Just read report on a website suggesting we're competing with the Owls for Kyle Dempsey of Carlisle United. CU value him at £500k. Is anyone else getting as irritated as me by these lazy reporters who don't understand what the word 'embargo' means? Idiots.

I believe dempsey is 19 and under the embargo you can pay fees for an under 21 player as they do not count as a squad player till they have played 5 games for the first team.Dougie has stated that the under 21 rule is wrong under ffp as it holds back young talent and he may query this with the ffp

Yes whilst we can pay a fee for youngsters we can only give them youth contracts though not sure how this would work regarding playing players on youth contracts in the first time. I think the Press believe the FFP will get put on hold when QPR get relegated.

Forest are trying to sign Dempsey on loan, with the transfer being made permanent (inc. payment) when the embargo ends.
There are ways of signing players under an embargo.

Whilst I totally agree with your point on transfer fees being out of the question for new players, I also understand however, that it is possible to trade/swap players of equivalent value to strike a deal.
Some of our outgoing players would surely command a fee to cover the cost of a swap for a 500k player

From reading comments on this site over the weekend, I gather the consensus is that Neil Warnock is not liked. Having seen some of his antics over the years winding up opposition managers/players, I think this is understandable. However, better to have that type of manager on your side that against in my opinion. I have never been a big fan of Warnock, but if he is appointed, he has a proven track record of getting teams promoted (not just into the play-offs), and irrespective of whether I like him or not, I will give my full support. I'm not a fan of Billy Davies, and wasn't keen on his return, but still felt obliged to give my full support once he was appointed. I think Mr Warnock should be given the same level of courtesy. Equally I'm not going to start calling Billy names now he has gone - we don't know the true details of his departure and probably never will - speculation is irrelevant. We need to look to the present and to the future - onwards and upwards. FTID

Best performance of the season so far, delicious Barca-like interplay combined with good honest toil. So many great individual performances to admire, for me though Mackie shaded it.
The one disappointment? Pains me to say it but Abdoun looked a pale shadow of his youtube self. Seldom looked like beating their right back.
Won't dwell on it though, the solitary point won't say it but I will- we battered 'em!

3.) Abdoun has still not had a good run in the side. he still needs to settle into new team and surroundings and getting to know how is team mates play etc. working with them in training is one thing but a game is totally different. It may not be until next season we see the best of him. He will come good though!

The 3 months is not relevant in standard transfer window - only in emergency loan window. Williams transfer in the standard window.

Don't disagree Keeno, but there's been a lot of scheduling changes this season which doesn't help. I've been a season ticket holder for a few years, but find renew this year purely because I was wasting money not being able to get to weekday matches. However, can also see that the expectation levels are set low pre-season which will have put people off.

My guess is that figures were agreed in principle, subject to agreement from HL and DF, but someone let the cat out of the bag too soon - and retracted and 're-stated after meltdown. Either Fawaz is not passing on instructions effectively, or his staff don't know what they're doing. If UK wasn't keen on a move before, I suspect after this he might just want to run away from the circus.
