After reading on here the comparison of styles between England and Forest who else believes that Football Coaches are ruining the game and taking away our national style, in particular the British type of play.
When play our 442 style properly at pace its hard to beat.
What do people think?

chugsy

1.) 08 Oct 2017 20:33:48
Only thing you can say is that since 1966 we've won nothing playing mainly 442. Don't think the game has been ruined, you have to adapt to rule changes as well.
If you go back we had one sub,you could pass the ball back to goalkeeper and pick.it up,
You could tackle from behind.
Offside was easy to execute.
Game has changed a lot.

2.) 09 Oct 2017 07:21:23
Not ruined but we shouldn't try and replicate continental football, we just don't have the players to pull it off. Crouch up front, long ball, that's what I say.

3.) 09 Oct 2017 18:00:48
Football is an ever evolving sport both in rulesets and tactics. Gone are the days of long balls and lumping as players can generally read those balls and defend against them easily. Nowadays you switch the ball quickly or you play patiently and try to drag the opposition out of position.

The current meta Tactic is 343, which players are now playing at club level, so it makes sense to mirror that in the international scene too. Before that it was 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. The pace and and style of the games have been influenced by the M word, where the more attractive footballing teams and technical players are dragging the game to being less of the typical English game and more towards the South American and Spanish style of play. Personally I think the old style of play with more direct passing and getting the ball out wide to a winger or up to an ogre in attack, can still work at club level when you can coach the players day in and day out, but international football needs the players to be comfortable with what they know and how they play.

4.) 09 Oct 2017 22:05:54
Wales 0 v Ireland 1 Winning at its best by the Sourcer's Apprentice and his Rotweiller!

Football has not changed its just about getting the best out of your resources and playing winning football?

5.) 10 Oct 2017 20:46:16
I saw the comparison between Wales and Forest for the goal last night. Taking unnecessary risks at the back.

30 Aug 2017 08:29:23
It's being reported on various that Leicester are after Benny Osbourne for 10m.
Makes sense because they never replaced Kante and BO is the only player around with that sort of engine.

chugsy

{Ed001's Note - Ndidi replaced Kante.}

1.) 30 Aug 2017 09:23:05
exactly my point

2.) 30 Aug 2017 09:32:01
10m sell sell sell.
Buy macdonald and mcginn and centre half.

3.) 30 Aug 2017 09:42:24
10m for Osbourn, football really has gone mad but at least we're benefitting from it for a change. 15m for Britt, possible 10m for Osbourne, 14m for Burke, 7m for Antonio and 3m for Lansbury. I make that 49m in transfers out over the last year. Compare that to who has come in, where is all the money going?

4.) 30 Aug 2017 10:00:48
10 million? Take it,hes not that good, thats good money when you consider we got McKay for 1/2 million.

5.) 30 Aug 2017 10:22:30
123. Mcdonald = £7m, McGinn = £5m if you believe Lennon in one report. Centre Half = £????????? The first two amount to more than £10m alone. The club needs to keep some money to keep running.

6.) 30 Aug 2017 10:31:45
GR. If the club spent every penny from players on players how is it expected cut the debts it has, merchandise and everything else does not raise enough to cut the clubs debts.

7.) 30 Aug 2017 10:50:11
ABF - I never said anything about spending every penny and I know the club is not self-sustainable without selling assets, however, the club now makes a reported loss of approx 750k per month so there is definitely some money left over from all the transfers we've shipped out.

8.) 30 Aug 2017 10:54:53
I would imagine the deal will go through if Drinkwater moves to Chelsea. I like Osborn, but I do think we should take the deal and try and get a new CB with this money. Kevin Long from Burnley would be the best bet for me

9.) 30 Aug 2017 11:21:19
McDonald won't come,we would not be prepared to pay his wages.
That's why Hobbs and Eric will be off,we're not prepared to pay big wages.

10.) 30 Aug 2017 12:38:14
I posted at the weekend that I watched Mcdonald at Ipswich. He is just the player we need. Sits infront of the defence. Drops into a back 3 when the full backs push up. Intelligent enough to know when to hold and when to play out. As big as a cb so solid in the air. Just his wages as some have said.

11.) 30 Aug 2017 13:10:35
Benny is a good player with a big engine that will keep going for 90 minutes. £10 million is a good price if he can be replaced. Mcginn for £3 to £4 million would be good but only if he is a natural replacement.

12.) 30 Aug 2017 13:13:33
FF79 Eric is NOT on a king's random unlike Hobbs who is one of the top earners!

13.) 30 Aug 2017 13:33:16
Player of the season last year so probably feels he deserves a bettér deal.
I'm convinced he'll be gone if not in this window then the next.

31 Jul 2017 13:25:06
Is Jackson Irvine still in the mix because his so called move to Brighton seems to have died a death.

chugsy

1.) 31 Jul 2017 13:36:04
MW said he did not want to discuss positions, Surely Mcdonald would be too expensive, but Irvine could be one of the two set to join us.

2.) 31 Jul 2017 14:43:51
Would prefer Irvine personally. McDonald had a bad deciplinery record last year 14 yellow and 1 red plus only 3 goals. We need more goals from midfield this coming season. For me, Irvine fits the bill.

3.) 31 Jul 2017 15:33:30
id rather have irvine too and he'd be much much cheaper than mcdonald, and he's younger.

4.) 31 Jul 2017 15:57:36
There's a report quoting the club, saying that the two we hope to bring in before the season opens are likely to be Kevin McDonald (Warburton thinks he can get a much better price), and 'probably one from a Premier league club'. He was asked will they be signing or loans and he said possibly one of each depending on negotiations. Sounds promising!

5.) 31 Jul 2017 16:14:41
McDonald is the 1 for me bags of experience, I know Irvine is exciting but we need experience to influence a very young squad. We have enough goals in the squad.

6.) 31 Jul 2017 16:20:28
F8. But at what cost?

15 Jul 2017 14:26:33
This proposed player exchange in the Britt deal is a joke. Darikwa is a donkey who can't defend.
Just another of Dyches jokes.

chugsy

1.) 15 Jul 2017 16:40:59
Burnley fans on Twitter are saying he's probably not good enough for the Championship.

If it were me, I'd promote Jordan Gabriel to 2nd choice RB and look to tempt Bidwell away from QPR with some of the Brit money.

Still crying out for a solid CM though. Wouldn't be surprised if we looked for a loan from one of the top Prem clubs.

2.) 15 Jul 2017 19:14:52
LDN, i agree, looking to loan out a player or two from the big prem clubs would be a good idea, from watching the under 19 euros mason mount from chelsea looks like a really good player although it looks like hell be going on loan to vitesse as they all seem to do at chelsea. huddersfield took advantage of chelsea last season though with kasey palmer and izzy brown. another good midfielder they always seem to loan out is lewis baker who is also apparently meant to be good.

3.) 15 Jul 2017 19:48:39
Having said that, Chalobah and Akpom didn't do all that much when they came to the City Ground.

15 Jul 2017 11:23:13
I understand Forest are looking at striker Matthew Knox from Livingston.

chugsy

1.) 15 Jul 2017 11:52:41
We need to secure him if he is any good.

2.) 15 Jul 2017 11:55:31
Senior career played 7 scored none?

3.) 15 Jul 2017 12:27:06
68. Only 17, Freedman tried to sign him.

4.) 15 Jul 2017 12:33:09
Palace reading Cardiff are interested too.
Had a trial with man utd last season.
Described as a wonder kid with something special by his manager.
Rangers supposed to be interested as well.

5.) 15 Jul 2017 13:57:26
One for the future then I guess.

6.) 15 Jul 2017 14:16:08
I'm I the only one thinking that we need senior players to improve the 1st team squad? all well and good getting these kids for the future but we are playing for the now and at the min we have a just outside relegation squad, which hasn't improved from last season and if Britt goes will be 14 goals worse off next season.

7.) 15 Jul 2017 14:35:34
Agreed UTF. still plenty of time! COYRS!

8.) 15 Jul 2017 15:36:17
UTF. I'm not suggesting we will be challenging next season, but i think last seasons relegation fight was due to the defence changing most games under PM regardless of injuries and not enough players with real pace in the team. The players also complained about a lack of fitness, so we lost too many games in the latter stages of games due to that aswell. This season fitness is not an issue and providing MW does not repeat the mistakes of PM mid table should be possible. MW seems to be following in the Arsenal set up with bringing in kids for the future to sell and loan in the future making the club self sufficient. Too many seasons now the club have tried to get success quickly to no avail without thinking about the future of the club, that is now being addressed. Patience is key.

Has Moyes been sacked yet?

chugsy

1.) 19 Nov 2017 19:52:13
No, but a cheeky bid for Antonio would sort all this " no getting our rewards" nonsense?

31 Oct 2017 20:15:19
DARIKWA messes up again and we concede.

chugsy

1.) 31 Oct 2017 20:51:47
You score a hat trick one game, then you can't get a kick next game?
That's football with young players

2.) 31 Oct 2017 21:32:51
terrible defending and even worse goalkeeping for the second.

3.) 31 Oct 2017 21:38:11
Goalkeeper again. Shocking.

4.) 01 Nov 2017 06:51:00
Say no more, useless at defending.
Pick yourselves up lads and pick up the pace, dictate the play.

5.) 01 Nov 2017 06:53:17
Shocking defending, caught out again on the break.
Nothing changes, hey ho!

23 Oct 2017 12:07:28
For those of you that like a stat we have played 6 teams above us
and 7 teams below our current position of 12th

TEAMS ABOVE P6 W1 D0 L5

TEAMS BELOW P7 W5 D0 L2

Our mid table position seems to be a fair reflection of our form to-date.

chugsy

1.) 23 Oct 2017 20:03:14
I love a good stat Chugsy and that's a belter. Keep 'em coming.

I posted recently that we should reassess after the run of games we have coming up against 'lower' teams and suggested that we review things after the Birmingham game. Your stat seems to reinforce my optimism.

If the trend illustrated in your stats continues we could easily be top 10 or better after the Birmingham game, as our next four matches are against sides below us.

Here's hoping!

2.) 23 Oct 2017 22:46:25
That's exactly how I see it, we shall see

3.) 24 Oct 2017 10:54:12
As long as we keep beating the teams below us its happy dsys. Safe in mid table and carry on the rebuild of our club.

19 Oct 2017 22:34:00
I think Chris Cohen should be offered the vacancy made by the exit of Jack Lester.

chugsy

26 Sep 2017 13:40:23
Looks like we are going to lose Jack Lester to Chesterfield, shame to see him go but good luck Jack.

chugsy

1.) 26 Sep 2017 15:29:44
Been great for our youngsters a real shame but good luck to him deserves his break

2.) 26 Sep 2017 15:08:36
When i posted this last week i got lots of thumbs down.
Hes sayinh his goodbyes at Alfreton Town this afternoon where our under 23's are playing Birmingham u23's. He will be announced tomorrow as chesterfield manager.

Playing 30 something's players is short term, we are trying to develop the club in the long term.
Can't believe some of the fans on here

When we beat Ipswich at home 3-0 we played a back 3 with wing backs and overlapping wingers, overloading the wide positions. We aren't playing that format at the moment with a definite back 4 so . .
I am certain we will get better as a team with MW at the helm, we have to show more patience

Remember Lars Veldvijk, he had scored over 40 goals in the same league and he was a million miles away from being a championship player so why would we be interested in this guy.

We had injury to Matty Cash early doors and no cover so probably listened to bad advise. Darikwa ws in the Burnley team for a spell to cover injury to the main RB but was never an ever present. Just because a player has played games in the premiership or has come out of Man Utd reserves it doesn't make them a good player.
Darikwa has youth on his side but hasn't a clue how to defend so he is wide midfield at best.
Shame he can't cross a ball

Agree with your assessment Retford, but with Darikwa I'm afraid that if his only asset is attack then we have plenty of players in front of him and at 2 million was a waste of money.

I would far sooner have, support and watch a young Forest team striving for excellence and managed by M Warburton than a Cardiff City playing in that ugly, dull gamesmanship style, managed by that football cynic Warnock.
He has forgotten what the beautiful game is all about, that's if he EVER knew what it was in the first place.
I'll back MW and the boys all day long.

The thought of NW as Forest manager is appalling. I would far sooner see our youngsters striving to be a proper footballing side, even though we lost, than watch and be a Cardiff team that employed deplorable gamesmanship and delaying tactics to get the 3 points.
Cardiff may well get promotion but they won't stay up with the NW attitude whereas if Forest ever get there we will at least be able to stand a chance in the higher league by playing football
Shame on the ref today, that's what I say, should have sorted the gamesmanship out
