If people on here think that the next piece in the puzzle is a new ground, you have seriously lost the plot. A lot could be done on the existing site to make this a perfectly good home for many years to come. More pressing issues are those of getting the right squad and management team to get us into the premiership.

Once we have those in place then start worrying about the ground as we will have the income to support redevelopment. Its too easy spending other peoples money and shouting about what should be done!

Totally agree tykesabroad to many people on here still think we are one the clubs whom have a divine right to be a big club unfortunately not true anymore average championship team, until we get the club, ie players management both on and off the field a new ground is the last thing that the club needs, also people who are talking about new sites for our ground are the ones who talk about our history well may I remind these people our history was made at the CITY GROUND so why move take your rose to tinted glasses off and take a look in the real world😂.

2.) 10 Feb 2017 16:04:18
Absolutely no point in having a big ground if the best we can manage is to put 20,000 in it.

3.) 10 Feb 2017 16:29:33
This doesn't distract from that the main stand is the most dilapidated in the championship and badly needs upgrading, l sure most visitors see it and think what a dump, bad for corporate where lots of football money is now earned.

Replacing it was high on Moores list and should have been on Fawaz, s a long time ago, money makes money etc. Take a look around at our rivals who used to be behind us
CARLO.

The ground reflects where we are as a club 25 years behind the time! So presumably you are happy for us to wallow indefinitely in mediocrity?

3 of the 4 stands are not fit for purpose in providing adequate concourse space to maximise matchday revenue and you cannot upgrade the existing ground to provide a Premiership standard ground in the future without additional land to provide safe access to the stadium to meet current legislation.

By the time we get promoted their will be a minimum ground standard imposed to join the elite league and as usual Forest will not have a plan and missed the boat!

So pray tell us who is going to tip up £350m+ for a new ground as well as keep you all topped up with "stellar" every transfer window?

5.) 10 Feb 2017 18:54:58
Unless your making the main stand bigger there's no point in improving it. i'm sure the residents have stopped its being upgraded in the past.

6.) 10 Feb 2017 19:16:11
Disagree with you all. the council have forest over a barrel with the ground and on top of that, the place is a nightmare to maintain costing millions a year with no extra income from facilities such as the hotels; modern meeting rooms and offices. If the club wants to progress and compete they need a new ground.

As for the extension of the main stand. it can't be done there is a huge mains sewer pipe of some sort built below the car park, to move this and fill the space left behind will cost tens of millions, hence why they tried to turn the ground around. This could not happen due to daylight being an issue to other properties if any of the stands grow any bigger.

The ground is eventually going to be moved and I think people need to start getting their head round it.

Bsered

You do not have to have a bigger ground, if investment were to become available just improve on what is already in place.

8.) 11 Feb 2017 09:35:13
Gotta say when i get to matches always try to get close to my old season tkt spot. I never cease to marvel at the first glimpse of the pitch as you walk along the corridor to D block. I hope the city ground is our home for years to come. Trent end was spoiled by the seating. It used to be the noisest terrace anywhere in the country. Now at kickoff all goes quite as people take their seats. Just saying.

9.) 11 Feb 2017 11:48:55
None of this means that the main stand doesn't need replacing, it's so antiquated it's embarrassing, can't believe anyone likes it.
CARLO.

We travelled down from north Yorkshire for the game, some said why bother, because in times like these that Forest need all the support they can get! came away from the game for the first time thinking we had a solid back four with some cover in front. What a difference that makes, now two consecutive clean sheets. Something to give us real hope of climbing the table. Our best display at home defensively all year. Our best attacking display was against Birmingham when Carayol tormented the Birmingham back four, why can't we get him to play like that consistently?

Because he can't?

As I have previously said there is absolutely no reason why Fawaz would want to put the club into administration as he would lose his money. Those ridiculous posts about ring fencing his debts in third party offshore entities also fail to understand that if there is no cash and the club is broke the hierarchy of who gets their money first always starts with HMRC. Any administrator under these circumstances would view the ultimate beneficial party in a loan repayment. Its not as easy as some idiots on here make out!

Why do people think our club is worth anything as it stands at the moment. Losing money on a daily basis, unless you could invest in the right structure and with good people you may get the club into the PL, only then could you make some capital growth on your investment. Akin to buying millions of lottery tickets in the hope of a win. The only surety is the cost!

All these posts about Fawaz wanting the club to go into administration etc are just so funny, from people who obviously know nothing about finance. If the club goes into administration and is insolvent, then Fawaz at that point losses control and administrators are appointed.

If the club is wound up, HMRC is the first cab off the rank for its money, then other creditors and finally if anything is left it goes back to the shareholder. So if you were the shareholder with this prospect, pray tell me why you would do this as opposed to selling the club and its debts for 50 million pounds?

Exactly, no idiot would do that. So please can we stop the hysteria?

Actually, not as simple as you make out
Financially, Fawaz will have ring fenced the monies he "owes" the companies who "loaned" the money to NFFC Since the debt keeps coming back to him.

For sure he will want to try and get 50 million back to him, but there has been no mention of what he did with the Burke monies and other incomings from transfers or TV rights etc. not what will happen if he let's Lansbury be sold
Basically the monies owed on behalf of Nottingham Forest could be all to Kuwaiti companies that you have no chance of getting the money from, so not difficult to let the club go into admin.

the Tax man will not get one pound from Fawaz for sure, it will be his "wound up" or "dormant" companies in Kuwait that the tax man would have to chase along with the Administrators. (Fawaz in one interview with EMT even mentions not letting it go into Administration because he loves the club, but what if he does not now? ) Plus Arabic pride is at play and emotionally, there is no value to put on such a person being angry enough to pull the plus despite how much it might appear to cost him.

So financially, you are not correct, it is all mostly paper monies of debt that he took on and offset to his shell companies in Kuwait or wherever. One day we will see really how much he put in, which will be not much short of what he got back from the selling of such as Burke, Lascelles etc. Administration is a real possibility if we do not get a buyer before a summer and League 1!

You don't seem to have learned much about Fawaz! CARLO

I would not dismiss Freedman, he has at east the talent in the squad. What has been lacking is team tactics, and organisation. Some semblance to a pattern of play that the players buy into would do us wonders. Every week under SP we had different selections and different formations, it became shambolic. Pearce may have been a great left back but he is no manager.

Always hoped he would be more effective, he missed easier chances than the ones he scored. Never really had the opportunity to get a partnership established with a goal poacher alongside, which is what his presence as big frontman demanded.

Agreed but as a lone striker its not his best position. Also Bristol were a big outfit in terms of size and he was always going to lose out in a tussle, but his lack of pace is alarming.

I went to school in York with Steve McLaren, he was a big head then and nothing has really changed. Promoted to his level incompetence!
