I think the criticism of Pants for the 5 goals last night is harsh, can't really fault him for any of the goals. But as for the defence in front of him they were awful and can be blamed for 3 basic errors:
1. No challenge at all against Abraham's on two of the goals, Not sure what Dawson was doing? With his experience he should at least have been in a position to challenge for the headers.

2. Not closing players down when in the last third and committing to tackles when 'jockying' was required.

3. Having no clue when the Villans ran at us ending up with us making wreckless challenges.

Fair due to the Villans for having a go when 2-0 down as they had clearly done their research on our weaknesses. At times I could not watch the game as our defending was so poor, AK must be having nightmares! Unfortunately other teams will have seen this.

We don't just need a new keeper but a new defensive 6 if we are ever going to get out of this league. And bringing back Fox will not help.

For real the man is 6 foot 8 why isn't he claiming any cross into the box abraham was in the 6 yard box for 2 headers and he was still on his line he wouldn't even need to jump to beat him the air several kicks straight out handing possession straight back to them, why has he been number 2 at most clubs he has been at says it all

2.) 30 Nov 2018 06:35:05
Red James I’m guessing you’ve never been a goalkeeper with that statement.

3.) 30 Nov 2018 07:26:23
So he didn't spill the ball for the second goal??🤔🤔🤔
His job to organise his defence from free kicks and at least come for some, not stand still on his line.
His positioning is awful and is quite simply not agile.
He doesn't inspire confidence in the defence or the crowd

4.) 30 Nov 2018 08:09:44
Agree with all the doubts about pants, not sure what Sutton was meaning why don’t you explain ?
I was a centre half and when a taller quality attacker gets a run on to a good cross there is only a couple of things to stop him, getting close putting him off his jump and balance or the keeper takes 1 or 2 strides and punches the ball clear. Pants is massive and has got no excuses, he simply doesn’t command his box. Dawson did need to get closer and Robinson was also poor. But in the box the buck stops with the GK. Defenders are constantly caught in 2 minds unsure if the GK will come off his line.

5.) 30 Nov 2018 11:00:11
Sutton no never been a keeper but seen plenty take one step off there line to catch or punch the ball to safety or the very least out the striker under pressure, but maybe your right staying on line giving the striker the whole goal to aim at is right keepers seem to manage to collect crosses we make so why can't he

6.) 30 Nov 2018 11:51:09
When you think about it pants is 6foot8 add his arms say 9 inches then he jumps in the air he must be 7 foot 6 and still can't get the ball very strange !!!

7.) 30 Nov 2018 13:19:15
Agree pants needs to stop being pants someone like Randolph only six
Two ,saves plenty and comes out to catch many a few crosses as well we should consider a keeper like him . Big pants is a giant overstretched fumbling baffoon , who is slow and weak because his neuro-physical make up is similar to a clown on stilts swaying about trying to to maintain balance never mind being a goalie .

8.) 30 Nov 2018 13:40:05
Pants was rooted to his spot for a couple of the goals which was a bit embarrassing to watch as a fan. For a man of his stature you'd expect him to command and dominate the box, but he's the exact opposite. He plays like a netball player, as in one step, and if he can't reach it with an outstretched hand, it's a goal! I'm afraid his goalkeeping will cost us points this season.

9.) 30 Nov 2018 18:25:50
1st goal was Robinson not stopping cross n daws got underneath the ball 2nd goal was a bit flops from whole team even grabs could of gone have it, but whacked it straight at Villa player 3rd goal Robbo should never of dived in, stay on ya feet make sure cross don’t come in simple 4th goal again can’t defend free kick 5th goal was well worked by villa

10.) 30 Nov 2018 20:35:04
Remember Paul "Smudger" Smith! He s 6 ft 4 and I never saw him come for a cross. Reminds me of Pants. Needs replacing. Peter Schmeical was similar build but God help you if you were in his way when he claimed a cross.

11.) 30 Nov 2018 22:00:32
Spot on stokey,he didn't last long, pants is worst I've seen, said so last season and should never have signed him,bit I wouldn't hold your breath on him being replaced, he shouldn't be playing tomorrow but he will.
Don't think for one minute karanka will bring another goalkeeper in, feel sorry for steel as he must be wondering how bad pants has to be to get a chance?

12.) 30 Nov 2018 22:17:23
aps,lol
You know what they say about big feet?
And he's got big hands as well.
Definitely a big dick when it comes to goalkeeping and his name is PANTS to prove it.🤔

13.) 30 Nov 2018 23:06:54
Pants is indefensible. He is utter crap. Said it all along, stays rooted to his line, an utter clown. He never ever comes fir a cross. The worst goalie i have ever seen.

14.) 01 Dec 2018 22:56:11
Please go and watch those Villa goals again. There is no way any goalkeeper would come for the whipped in crosses headed in by a very good centre forward. He was just better than our defenders on the night!

15.) 01 Dec 2018 23:18:21
Rutland
Go chill on the lake!
If defenders are set up to defend the 6 yard box then the keeper should not come out.
Just because he is 6'8" it does not mean he will win every ball as he will get blocked off.
Focus on his shot stopping I can think of only one goal where he has been chipped?
As for the worst keeper what about the Serbian Beast?

16.) 02 Dec 2018 14:24:21
Just read all your posts about Pants and agree with a lot of what you are all saying,so what do you want AK to do,bring steel in,ok I’m ok with that, but if that happens and it fails and we loose the game (it could be against the sheep)who’s going to take all the flak.wont be you moaners, can her you lot saying now,you don’t change a winning team AK would get hung drawn and quartered by you lot.
We all no what have in Pants and it ain’t that good but in my opinion he's the best we have until January so let it drop a bit ay

Before the game on Weds I was thinking that if I was playing for the Trees that I would really want to prove myself against the top of the table team. At 64 I was still playing vets footy until a recent knee replacement and of course wanted to win every game. But the Forest players showed none of this desire, you don't need motivation from CH to do this. If you haven't got got it then you should not be playing the game.
The other thing that really gets me is the teams inability to play fast one touch football like Norwich did. Where we have a chance to make a first time forward pass to a player in space we rarely do it. Invariably we take 2/ 3 touches and then pass sideways or backwards. This gives the opposition ample time to get back in position and is one of the reasons why we create so few chances. Hardly rocket science but what on earth are we doing in training? The players should be ashamed of themselves after that performance.

Well said.

2.) 19 Mar 2021 13:41:33
Tree, just thought about that famous interview with Don Bradman the Aussie legend when he mischievously said his batting average against the present England team would only be around 50 rather than 100. The interviewer expressed his surprise at this admission until the Don said (with a wink) “ Well I am 72 after all”! 👍👍😄👏🏻.

3.) 19 Mar 2021 14:20:12
Tree, I agree with all you’ve said mate, managers can motivate to a certain extent, at the end of the day though, if any player can’t motivate himself to perform at there best its time he packed in. The problem is they still get paid motivated or not .

4.) 19 Mar 2021 14:58:08
So if you can see a player is not motivated why can't hughton?
After all he keeps playing same players.

5.) 19 Mar 2021 15:23:34
Probably because he ain’t got any better, he could try three at the back, that’s bout it.

Hello all Trickies. Well it's been a miserable year both on and off the field for most of us, like many I have been mystified by the drop off in form by the reds during the last year. But now I am expecting things to turn around. At the end of last year we were burgled and one of the many items stolen was my beloved collection of Forest cigarette cards! Thankfully the police managed to recover some of the items including the cards. I have only just got them back as the police needed them as evidence, they were in a bit of a mess as they were dumped in a muddy field. some people do not understand the real value of things today. After much TLC they are now back in pristine condition hanging on my study wall. It's made my Xmas and has put a big smile on my face when I see some of the great players from the past.
Have a great Xmas everyone and let's look forward to the reds climbing the table!

3.) 24 Dec 2020 20:46:49
GF have you been at Santa’s Sherry :) be happy with a 1-0 goal off someone’s backside after this Xmas lol.

4.) 24 Dec 2020 21:20:23
Glad things turned out ok, as you say let's hope for a better new year, on and off the pitch, merry Christmas.

Paul Cook of Wigan gets my vote as the next manager/ coach. Will probably need full control though - he knows the EFL.
SL should resign if he has any respect for what he has done he is clueless!

Nigel pearson would shake them up, probably literally.

We've been voted the best team ever to have been relegated from the Premier League on the BBC web site.

1.) 23 Apr 2020 19:30:17
And derby are on record as the worst team ever to be relegated.
Rather be the worst team that ever stayed up though?

So MON was 'old school' and a 'dinosaur'. So put yourself in his shoes if:
1. A first team player missed the coach for a game.
2. Another player repeatedly missed a medic appointment.
3. Gued refused to do a warm down after sitting on the bench after the Ipswich game.

What would you do? Buy them a latte and give them a cuddle?

In the real working world you would get a warning if not being fired on the spot (point 3).

Come on MON deserved the support of the Board and the owner to sort out these below average prat's.

1.) 28 Jun 2019 23:24:36
1. Discuss with him why, if it’s plausible let it slide if not tell him if it happens again there will be consequences.
2.Escort the player to the medical
3. Don’t really understand why you need to warm down after sitting on the bench.

2.) 28 Jun 2019 23:16:31
Agree totally that in any OTHER business that behaviour would result in action. But we are dealing with a different beast today. Football economy IS NOT the same as every day corporate or small business. The players have a little more power. We cannot change this. no matter how hard we type or drink :)

3.) 29 Jun 2019 07:55:20
I’m sorry but if all three of those things actually happened then he didn’t have respect of the staff. If a member of my team did any of those things I’d get a phone call or a text apologising or prewarning me. If in Guedioras case I’d discuss with him about the situation and then we’d both decide I was right.

4.) 29 Jun 2019 08:40:27
There is more to it than a warm down and missed medical appointment. These things will happen all the time. The article also said they were baffled by tactics + fall outs. The same stuff that happened with Ireland. I think Doherty (Irish plays) did an interview bringing up similar stuff.

Collymore for me, one of the best forwards we have ever had, broke my heart when he went to the Puddle!

What amazes me is that Fawaz had a plan B when the takeover fell through which must be a first for him. Also I would love to know who got all these deals done so quickly and efficiently when GB was involved in the game last night.

The person deserves praise as we have never had such a successful window. Still sceptical about Fawaz's long term intentions but he deserves credit for last night.

Our accounts are to the end of May so the Antonio sale will not show until next year. Not sure how FFP works and whether we can show we are currently within the FFP rules?

2 Star, can you share the information available to you and your chums? I have tried to read everything posted on the web so far.
By way of background I went to a business meeting about 15 years ago with prospective clients who were the architects that designed the Bridgford End and Trent End Stands.

The pictures of both stands were displayed throughout their offices and their literature, and guess what they were a firm based in Derby about 200m meters from Poo Park or whatever they call it now, so who had the last laugh there? At least they have a joined up stadium albeit built by IKEA.
And as for not pleasing everyone, exactly, I’m not happy and want better and that attitudute is why we have been in the Championship for the last 20 years. .we need to do better.

In terms of the light not reaching the grass, the Pricipality stadium in Wales uses light generators when the stadium is not in use to grow the grass all year round resulting in the best atmosphere in world rugby. And as for nor buying the houses behind the Bridgford stand, well how difficult is that? How many millions have we wasted on players over the last 20 years?
Come on any 5 year old could have come up with the latest plan in 10 mins. No imagination at all and no vision whatsoever.

Hi Ed, don't think Britt suffered an ACL rupture but broken knee cap. Whilst still serious it's totally different from recovering from an ACL injury. I ruptured both ACL's in my late teens without them being diagnosed. Your body does adjust as I'm still playing footy at 61, albeit 'walking' football.

Tree1

{Ed001's Note - it is not totally different, it still has the main issues mentally with changing the way you move the limbs to avoid injuries.}

Lots of Trees at Edgbaston to watch the T20 final today who should have stayed in Nottingham to watch the footy as Notts with all their so called stars were rubbish. Northants with only 16 players on their books and 2 of those injured were superb and shows yet again you do not need to splash the cash to be successful.

I love CC's attitude, wish more of our players had such determination. From a personal perspective I ruptured the ACL's in both knees which were only diagnosed 40 years later. Didn't stop me plating footy though and winning quite a few trophies albeit in lower league footy. Fell over a few times though!

The money Fawaz has put into the club are short term loans and not equity. The loans can be called in at any time but as the club is insolvent to the tune of £8m it has now way of repaying the debt other than by selling players. In the corporate world it is unusual for a company to be trading whilst insolvent but then again this is football.
