SSN app paper talk saying Sheff Wed are interested in Simon Cox. If there's money involved i'd be inclined to take it. Wanted him to come good but just never quiet took off. Good engine but missed a lot of chances and we all know he will leave and get at least 15 goals first season he leaves.

Panglos

1.) Unless it's for over £1.5 million i'd keep him. Still a good team player.

2.) I wouldn't be overly sorry to see him go to be fair. Yeah, he runs all day but I don't think that's enough and maybe it's time for Coxy to move elsewhere; after all, you don't win games by just running around a lot. It's a shame because I've no doubt he has talent and I do quite like him as a player. but for me he's not productive enough goals-wise (and I know he's been playing a slightly different role), I mean when he's in the strikers role.

3.) He is a player that divides opinion. I like strikers who put the ball in the net all the hard work is a bonus cox does one of these things and its not put the ball in the net. Get rid 500k would be a good price any more than that then the team that buys him must be mad. Rember he has 29 goals in over 150 games I can't for the life of me undertand why people seem to think that all of a sudden he is going to start banging them in. Get rid now.

4.) Does everyone forget that he isn't a goal scorer and is in fact a good supporting player. He got 11 assists when sharp was here

5.) All strikers that leave us start scoring.
Magoldrick.
Think we should keep unless they bid 1m.

6.) Let him go! a few more off the wage bill, and we can spend on another Striker!

7.) Has anybody thought that under the other managers they just haven't got the best out of him? Physco is a man manager and I think Physco will have a lok at him and make his own decission

8.) I tend to agree with North London Red. He is an excellent supporting player, not a goalscorer. He has good all-round ability and great work-rate.

I wouldn't be disappointed to see him go, for the right price, but I still think he could have something to offer Forest. Especially if we play him off someone like Fryatt.

9.) Sorry, I meant to agree with Trampygyan, not North London Red.

No offence, North London Red :)

10.) I think he would partner Fryatt really well. Could we sell him and get better? Not so sure, as someone else stated he assists very well but I agree he misses silly chances.

11.) In my opinion Cox is more of an attacking midfielder than an out and out striker - he works and works and battles for everything the problem is he was used poorly by BD as he was either played on his own or on the wing - He naturally wants to work for the team so drops back to help defend meaning we have no out balls. If we had him with someone such as Sharp or Fryatt I feel he would end up with tons of assists and probably a couple more goals a season too. I'd love us to keep him especially over Henderson or Blackstock.

12.) 11 Jul 2014 15:13:00
I agree that he is a good support player, but is no better than the others. Would he be happy on bench or reserves, because he isn't really the impact sub that Mackie/Hendo would be. Keep in squad or go? I say keep him, but tell him he's nit first team starter and let him make up his own mind.

13.) If you want someone who just runs about a lot sign Mo Farah

14.) Simon Cox is a good lad and a tries hard but it is now time to ditch sentiment if we are serious about promotion. Matty Fryatt could be the 15-20 goal man we have been missing but we need another of the same calibre. Lars, Pato and Hendo will contribute some to the goals tally but we have enough better providers in Henri, Andy, ETC. If Fryatt gets injured we will be back in a similar position as last year, plenty of attacking midfielders. but lacking where it really matters

15.) I just think with fresh competition with strikers, cox might just end up coming into his own this season. Superb player, just hasn't had the luck so far. He has a job to do for us in championship, but WHEN we go up next year, we should get rid

16.) Nets need to be a foot wider and he would score every week. On a serious note Cox is a good player and yes he's had plenty of time but I would still keep him for another season, I think he's just damn unlucky half the time. It's about the news boys fryatt and veldwijk but Cox still has a part to play in my opinion

17.) As long as the manager sees him as a good addition to our squad I couldn't care less what other people think. Too many people are quick to judge a player without any depth of knowledge about the role he is to play. Brian Clough signed trouble maker Kenny Burns on a dog track and changed his position and role completely, 2 European cups later was anybody questioning that decision??

SSN just said Forest reject Lacelles bid.
They may come back with a bigger bid but glad we have rejected shows commitment to the player and that we don't need the money at all costs.

Panglos

1.) 04 Jul 2014 10:08:04
Pearce has said no need to sell and will only if he can reinvest and get a better player the day after

2.) Would have thought they might sell. I don't think he will be first name on team sheet. I think it will be hobbs/Wilson who start

3.) Now seems Man City are ready to put a bid in, maybe holding out for a bidding war!

4.) Who in their right mind accepts the first bid.

5.) Garry can't see Wilson playing again, or he will break down after a couple of games

6.) Giltbrook Snake, why do you say that about Kelvin? He is taking full part in pre-season training, looks fit and ready to go now.

Seems odd if he is never going to play again.

7.) Do Forest need to sell?

Yes we're skating pretty close to the edge of FFP and made a bit of a loss last year but with the recent releases and Djebbour soon to be added to that list, is money that tight that we still can't get a few more signings without needing to sell first?

8.) FFP doesn't count investment in stadium and training ground upgrades does it?

Because we spend/spent a lot in both these last few seasons and i'm expecting that to continue for the next few seasons tbh

{Ed034's Note - no it doesnt

9.) Tricky1972
that's great news, at least to me, I thought we might not see wilson in a red shirt again, excellent!

Just heard Quiny on TS radio say he is going to the Workd Cup instead of Pearce as SP wants to concentrate on Forest. Great news, shows his commitment even more.
Possibly realised how much work is involved and pulled out of the deal with TS which says a lot as we know he wanted honour his commitment.

Panglos

1.) Great news if true as it shows commitment from SP and decency from talksports point of view. I'm sure he wouldn't have backed out and broken his contract but it shows two honourable parties can sort things out if they communicate.

2.) If this is true then why did he not take over from billy from the start when we had a chance of play offs.

3.) 31 May 2014 15:26:41
To answer your question Dub Red, the reason he didn't take over immediately is that he had other commitments he had to honour.

He is a man first and a football manager second, his commitment to family will (and should) always be before his club.

4.) Happy if this is true. can't help but think it would be a waste of precious time of Psycho /Forest going to Brazil. Would be nice to snap up some deals sooner rather than later. i'm presuming we will be snapping up deals behind closed doors to be revealed on July 1st no? Hope so!

{Ed034's Note - he is and still would have been working on deals. Great news though

5.) Dub red, maybe SPs circumstances have changed from when he was first offered the job. or Quinns circumstances may have also changed meaning he can now go to the world cup instead of SP.

6.) Well, if it is true, at least we won't be getting rumours saying "Ive been told he's at the world cup keeping an eye on Sturridge. " or "he's been seen at the training camp" haha

Question: who is better Hobbs or Lacelles.?
How much was Hobbs?
For me Hobbs is head and shoulders above Lacelles. When Hobbs was injured Lacelles didn't look the same player. Now Hobbs price is a fraction of what you guys are saying Lacelles worth. I don't get it. I obviously would love some one to pay silly amounts of money but some people have lost perspective. There's no evidence to say he is worth 6-7 or even ten times what we paid for Hobbs. Yes I know he is young and I do like the player but people are basing their valuations on prices others have paid for players that regardless of what we say or believe are considered better. I don't want us to sell but we know nothing of the players wishes and what he has been offered and I have to believe there is more to the deal financially then what ssn are saying. Plus as previously posted by someone we have brought in 3 potential better replacements.

Panglos

1.) Ditto

2.) The worry is that SP did'nt know!
He thought the deal on offer was not a good one. and advised not to take tbut hey still sold without telling him. what do you think ED?
I'm just a little concerned!

{Ed034's Note - he knew we had been offered money for them and was asked of his opinion. What bothers me is he wasn't told of the decision

3.) I agree, Hobbs much better and best defender at club.

4.) Potential. They are both far from their peak and will keep on getting better, players don't normally peak until 28ish mate

Not too sure about Malky Makay. Yes he got Cardiff up but I don't think they played fantastic football. The Rodgers comparison I have seen is nonsense. Cardiff have not got the reputation like Swansea of playing great football. He may do well for us but I don't think for one minute he is an outstanding manager with consistently proven track record. To be fair neither is Zola so they are both a chance as all managers are.

Panglos

1.) I don't care how any manager gets us up it's just about getting there. We can then look at staying there and look at how we play.

2.) I agree with panglos. Can understandwhy people like malcy as he got cardiff up. But out of managers quoted I would go for clarke and can't understand why his name is not more prevelant. Still in shock that pearce decided not to take interest further keep racking my brain as from where I am standing thought the timing was perfect but he has Iissues such a shame!

My two pence worth.
Bitterly disappointed obviously, but it was our reserve team. Unfortunately I think the tactics were what let us down. I don't believe like some we were not trying Billy had set us up to go at them and we did. We attacked and they got a lucky goal then we attacked and they kept hitting us on the brake. So McLaren had them drilled. They were tight defensively and hit us on the brake and with what we had at the back wasn't good enough. Cox tries hard but just isn't doing it. He will leave and score just like every failed striker we have. I'm not Billy's biggest fan but if we were defensive and got beat we would moan at that so we attack and get beat and moan at that. It was a sad day all round but sometimes and we have done it every attack the ball just goes in.
Plus Bamford dived. There was no contact so I'm gutted a born and bread Red did that. Disgusting. I don't care if you are forest derby or whoever you dive I lose all respect as a player and a man. Cheating should be a straight red card.

Bojan coming to Forest come on guys the guy was seen as the next big thing at Barca sure he played when 16/17 and has played in seria A, there's no chance he is coming to the championship. Ed we have to be respectful but come on mate that's just utter nonsense.

Panglos

{Ed034's Note - it has not been said by any poster that this is going to happen, it is just a rumour being passed on from elsewhere. so I can't see how anyone can have a go, or be disrespectful, for just passing on what is being said elsewhere

I think there is proof Billy had a problem with him because he played a defender up front rather then strikers. Yes he scored 3 goals but not giving one of the strikers a run is ridiculous. All those that say great servant etc. Are missing the point it was Billy being petulant playing him.

Also the glorious past was so corrupt, yes we won two European cups but in terms of players leaving and staying if a club/manager wanted a player they invariably made it happen with a few extra payments going to the selling club manager so please don't paint the past as some fair playing field because it was far from it. When we bought Trevor Francis for a million were we not doing exactly the same at that time as we had the money and success to be able to do it.

Whilst we are entitled to our opinion and I respect those that take time to write a post like the above it's simply not true. The Southampton players wanted to leave to play in the Champ League and earn more money, you can't just simply ignore these facts because you want you conspiracy theory to be correct. All large successful organisations try to protect themselves and prolong their success. DO NOT GET ME WRONG I can't stand the power the Prem league have over the toothless FA but you cannot blame a club for trying to stay at the top. The reality is players want to earn more which is their right and compete with the best and who are we to say that they shouldn't. It is a job the fact we would like that job is irrelevant. If I played for say Wigan and Arsenal offer mean five times the money plus the chance to play champ league and I'm a Forest fan why would I care about moving. I'm not saying all this is a good thing but it is the reality of the world, of capitalism and not some underhand big brother nonsense.

No he'd never be allowed to wear a Derby shirt that goes without saying he would be disowned for that. but Maradona cheat aside and the Falklands what's the beef. We have wars with every country pretty much going so it's no big deal. Kids are at the World Cup final you can't teach your kids prejudice (unless it's Derby). Chill it's not that important.

Are you guys serious. Kids grow up watching Messi and idolise him so they are at a World Cup final and want to wear his shirt and you would say no son as it might make me look bad back in England and some fans will say I'm a bad Englishman.

Get over yourself's they are kids a a World Cup final.

Agree with Ed every time I saw him play I couldn't understand how he could be called a footballer. He may well be a really nice bloke so nothing against him personally but never a Championship player.
