Will fondly recall that 15 minute cameo against Walsall, he was simply unplayable!

but yet we we still lost lol. doesn't matter if someone is unplayable if we still can't win games. not to mention that although he may be unplayable in one game, he is just as likely to be non existent in the next. good business.

I don't buy that those players on the pitch couldn't give a monkeys as some have suggested, there's a lot of huffing and puffing going on for sure and I can see genuine effort. I think it boils down to a lack of creativity in and around the centre of the pitch- sometimes it can come down to one player who, through leadership, technical ability, a certain maverick quality, will maker everything else fall into place-unfortunately such players are rare and are seldom taught (Reid was definitely one of those)- another disappointing aspect for me was that prior to the game Dougie made a point of highlighting how, given last season, we must perform better away from home. In light of this I thought we'd attempt to impose ourselves from the off, in fact the reverse happened. For the whole of the first half and the beginning of the second, right up until we conceded, we surrendered the initiative. Only then did we show a degree of muted intent- it mirrored much of what was so awful about last season-Reid or no Reid, I really believe that we have to try and start games on the front foot at least.

Everyone on here has been shouting out for a genuine dm,a striker and a left back, but nothing about a creative midfielder.mind you when you have mills smashing the ball up top everytime he gets it there's no point in having a creative midfielder you just need 3 dm's in there for when the ball comes straight back.

It's not really the result is it, at least that's how I feel, it's more the manner of our play. Let's face it, for the majority of that game we were taught a footballing lesson from a pretty average side, they were able to pick passes, find space, work for one another in a way that we found totally alien. We just don't have that fulcrum in midfield, somebody with the footballing brain who can spot a pass that others don't see (think Reid, Mejewski, Webb, Metgod etc). We have plenty of people who will run, lots of 'em, but no one who will think.
For the last two seasons we have fell apart at the seams following Reid's injury woes-christ he was gobby, wonderfully so, but more that that he was super intelligent on the pitch- without that kind of player we'll hoof until the cows come home!

All of pre-season to prepare for this. Formations, tactics, movement etc; and to be honest-that was dreadful. Lacking ideas and no better than the back end of last season. Under an embargo yes, but our playing staff should do much better than that. The movement was rubbish, all of the free kicks and balls into the box were just floated in like a butterfly with no variation-drill one in now and again for a change. That showing was pretty poor to say the least and against one of the less better sides in our division. Its got to get better. Underwhelmed and deflated.

I was hoping to see that we'd evolved a little from last season, dragged ourselves out of the primordial soup that is hoofball, began to formulate a primitive form of consciousness, maybe even pass one or two balls to teammates, that sort of thing. oh for Renaissance days of that Reid/Majewski/Cohen triangle, advancing up the pitch with pretty little interplays- might have ultimately got us nowhere but how I'd much sooner pay to see it! Oh well, back to the swamp!

If we must insist upon playing rubbish football can we at least employ cheerleaders like Palace by way of recompense?

Lord Sigri

Predictably Fox took must of the arrows for his performance against Walsall (personally I don't think he was that bad), Patterson however was truly dreadful, couldn't beat his man, hold up the ball, pass incisively, terrible.what the hell's happened to him?

Wow, seems an awful long time ago that we were ruminating upon a possible 500 million sponsorship deal! Felt Stuarts integrity shone through, perhaps something Fawaz could learn from. Once again we are faced with more questions than answers.

Nixon's tweet seems to suggest he'll finally be unveiled tomorrow (the striker, not Nixon). However I couldn't help noticing he'd used the words "long story" (Nixon, not the striker) without any real context-is this a clue perhaps? Peter Crouch is long, technically tall I suppose, although when prostrate one might consider him long?
Oh I do so much enjoy a Morse-like mystery!

Sometimes we get so carried away by the thought of big sponsorship deals, tv rights and the possibility of joining the esteemed elite that we forget about the real heart and soul of both club and community. I'm of an age to have been truly privileged to witness those glory days and to be mindful of how they came about-not just us but the likes of the Sheep (I know, I know), QPR, Villa, Norwich etc-it was as level as a playing field could get. I found this post really struck a chord, opened my tired old eyes, made me ruminate upon better days. You know what, I'm going to join Roy Cropper in the library. Well said that man!

What gives regards the young Portuguese lad? Neither team nor bench tonight. Thought he looked well worth a punt given his telling contributions thus far. Reminded me of Raheem Stirling but with an air of sultry latin sensuality.

I've only spent about 10 mins with this Abdoun fellow on youtube, but given what precious little I've seen It's fair to say I haven't been this excited about a Forest winger since the great days of "ooh ar Franzie Carr".
Just need Austin to reap the benefit of this guys genius.
