lansbury signs for another 3 years

Longers375

1.) Great news! Very strong squad. Henri is like a new signing. Hopefully he gets fit now and stays fit and injury free.

2.) The proverbial final peice of our jigsaw (along with the imminent CEO appt) onwards and upwards!

3.) Think he played as did Vaughan, Pato, and Wilson behind closed doors this week. good news all round, + Tesche training. a new CEO in place. can things get any better

4.) Cant see being the final piece, more players to come. don't rule out Bamford

5.) If Blackstock is expected to recover then we won't need Bamford. Blackstock is proven at this level (don't forget he was given a four year contract and was on form not so long ago).

Is it just me or do some reds have a short memory. Blackstock is a great third/fourth choice striker at this level. what is the point developing players for other teams when we can increase the value of our own. We have Tyler Walker too. OIf we bring in Bamford and Blackstock is fit how will youth ever get the experience?

6.) 22 Aug 2014 12:07:17
Hope he has learnt the off side rule

7.) Blackstock hasn't played for the best part of 4 years, we all respect dex but well leave it to Pearce to judge whether or he's good enough or not. Don't forget he didn't look interested after he got his big deal so before criticising people look at the facts. And take everything into consideration.

8.) Securing Lansbury is our best bit of business so far in my opinion. Closely, and I do mean closely, followed by Burke, Antonio and Assombalonga in equal joint second place.

With everyone fit, I think SP will have a headache he'll like having in trying to choose a starting XI. The way I see it, it's a very strong and competitive squad.

9.) Dex not played for the best part of 4 years!? He's played nearly 100 games in the last 4 years lol His last appearance was in November 2013, only 9-months ago- 4-years!? : /

I think Dex should be given the chance to regain fitness and become part of the squad again. He's more than good enough to be 4th choice. Perhaps with a new manager, new playing style and new opportunity we can see him contribute again. If not, get him fit and move him on.

I tend to agree with a lot of what Red Cyclist has said. Good post.

"Henri Lansbury is a Red, he hates Derby"

10.) Great news but beware!
His agent stated that there was no way he was signing another contract so expect a buy out clause in the contract. As soon as he starts performing again his buyout value will start getting hawked around in January!
Hopefully we will be 10 points clear in Jan and he will have Premiership football nailed on next year.
COYR's

11.) Every time I hear we have offered a big contract I worry.

Blackstock (4 years on good money): Injured.

Abdoun (allegedly £25K/week): Personality defect (allegedly lol)

Hobbs: Injured immediately and hardly played last season

Reid (contract extension): Injured (almost immediately)

Wilson (champions league wages?): Hardly played for us.

Anyone notice a pattern?

12.) It must be the pen they're signing the contracts with lol

13.) Exactly Gomez, If Fawaz is fed up with spending money on players who rarely play surely he can afford a new pen. Poison ink or what?

I'm not sure whether Fawaz or Lansbury should be worried about the consequences of signing. Hopefully the curse is lifted but you can't help biting your nails when you look at our recent history.

14.) Raddy new contract -goes missing?

15.) Why all the skepticism. Lansbury and Hobbs are still 2 of our best players even with all the signings. One has signed a contract today to stay at our club the other isn't leaving according to our boss. So this is a day to be upbeat.
Let our poor relations down Brian Clough way have all the negativity why we have a beer to celebrate our superiority!

16.) What a great day, well done Fawaz and SP, now take 3 points tomorrow, please!

Pearce confirmed that Nick Powell is not a #nffc target.

Longers375

1.) Watched Man U today, Nick Powell should be able to get in their side never mind our,s, would be an asset .
CARLO

2.) I thought we had insideinformation on this one? Weren't we just waiting on a paperwork issue? Ha.

3.) Ed, any idea who he was actually watching at the reserve game then?

{Ed034's Note - I think everyone presumed it was Powell, so no. It could be a case of looking for the future, in the off chance we get injuries and need cover.

4.) He was hoping to watch Wilson play, not Powell.

5.) 17 Aug 2014 13:46:51
Where was Robert tesche for Saturdays game

{Ed034's Note - wasn't even thought off due to needing a bit if time to settle in and raise fitness up a bit

6.) Tesche not in country he's at home with prgnant wife he will be back Wednesday and training Thursday, Sp mentioned this in his forest player interview.

{Ed034's Note - thanks. He hasn't had a proper pre-season, so I wouldn't expect him available until the league cup game

7.) 17 Aug 2014 22:59:07
Why as lars veldwick not played much of a part yet.

8.) I think sp likes the way assombolanga and fryatt link up, veldwyk will get to play more.
What's happened to all our defenders? We seemed to have loads pre-season, sp is now playing people out of position. Square pegs, round holes or something like that.

{Ed034's Note - Hobbs has been injured, lascelles/Wilson injured and mancienne suspendered.
Fox was tried central as an experiment and worked, so used him until one of the other three came back to partner mancienne.
Collins and halford been told can leave and I would presume Pearce would rather give the game time and match fitness to a player who's staying.
Fox played very well until Saturdays mistake

NOTTINGHAM Forest remain determined to hang on to Henri Lansbury after insisting that the midfielder is no closer to joining Burnley.
The Clarets are thought to have maintained their interest in the 23-year-old despite recently seeing a bid rejected.
Burnley are able to bide their time a little in their chase, with Lansbury currently on the sidelines with a knee injury, but Forest manager Stuart Pearce has made it clear that he wants to keep the former Arsenal youngster.
Assistant boss Steve Wigley has now reiterated Pearce’s stance.
“Henri is still a Forest player and will be this Saturday, ” Wigley said.
“Hopefully he will be the Saturday after. I hope he doesn’t go. Burnley have been keen on one or two players but at the end of the day they haven’t landed them yet.
“Henri starts joining in everything (in training) now and it will probably be about 10 days from there before he’s available to play. ”
Lansbury still has two years left on his contract at the City Ground and Forest want the midfielder to sign an extended deal with the club, a request that has so far met with resistance

Longers375

1.) Landsbury needs to get his head down, get fit, and get in the team, and more importantly play well, most of these things he has failed to do so far. personally I would cash in now. good player when his mind and fitness are good, but it don't happen anywhere near enough. remember it seems only burnley are making a fuss.

2.) Mr Lansbury should look at what happened to Mr Miller, wouldn't,t apply himself didn,t seem to want to play, didn't see them queuing up for him this summer,in football you can come down as quick as you went up, don,t aways listen to agents some rouges about!
CARLO

{Ed034's Note - I cant fault him for wanting to better himself and by playing in the prem, he is doing that. if he starts playing up if burnley cannot offer enough for him, then that would be wrong

3.) 14 Aug 2014 16:53:53
Just remember, Lansbury not signing a new contract doesn't inherently mean he wants to leave.

Look at it from his perspective, assuming he believes he's Premiership quality, and more than anything, he wants to prove that. Burnley obviously gives him that now, he'd probably be expecting to be looking for a new club again the season after that, but he'd have proven himself. However, in the absence of anyone else interested, or Burnley stumping up our asking price, he's likely going to have to wait until next season.

So next season he could be with us, in the Premiership, and he gets his wish. Otherwise, he's in the final year of his contract, in a very strong position to convince us to let him leave (or else he'll be available for anyone to sign to a pre-contract in January).

Unless it turns out he's not as good as he, and we, think he is; his single best chance of NOT playing Premiership football in the next two seasons, no matter how optimistic you are about our chances this season, is to sign a new contract with us. That's a huge thing to ask of him, a talented young player with bags of potential and international aspirations. If he knows what's good for him, he's not going to sign any contract we can realistically offer that would extend his stay with us. That doesn't mean he wants out - helping us get promoted this season achieves his goal - it just means he's not willing to so something that's directly against his interests.

4.) There is no indication that an agent is pulling the strings with the HL situation - it seems to me more like its HL's genuine aim/ambition to play in the prem asap. if players don't have ambition or aims of playing at the highest level they are not worth having at the club - every player needs to aim high. i'd love him to keep fit and fire us into the prem but if he goes we are likely to get a good fee which SP will hopefully get to reinvest.
win/win in my eyes.

{Ed034's Note - and that's exactly the way in looking at it

5.) LAN LAN BLEDDY LAN! Tell um Edaldo it's Henri LANsbury NOT Lan'D'sbury
Sorry fellow trees it's been doing my nut in for weeks (as if you can't tell!) lol
My moaning aside nobody's sure he'll stay not SP & SW that's for certain. my biggest clue (that I'm desperately hanging on to!) is HL's 'cheeps' in which he ribs TEAM mates like they are his team mates (Britt for starters) and signs off saying come on you reds that doesn't sound like a man dying to leave the club more like a man who's desperate to get fit again to push OUR club forward and up to the prem
Come on you reds
FTID

{Ed034's Note - haha chill out buddy

6.) Except that his agent is pulling the strings and has been for a while. He's not happy with the money he's on and he wants to play in the premier league. If he can get a move it will mean he can get both. Honestly and truthfully the club are doing all they can to keep him but it really is not looking promising.

7.) Hatton-what makes youthink its the agent pulling the strings?? Their is no indication its the agent, can't a player have ambitions to play at a higher level? i'd be straight onto an agents case if their was any evidence of this being true but there isn't so I don't think HL deserves a hard time, he's agent doesn't, Burnley don't and forest are handling it in a very professional manner too.

8.) Imo HL and forest are the ones pulling the strings in this situation. An agent will no doubt gain financially but only if it suits HL and forest. Great to see our club dealing professionally with transfer dealings.

9.) 2tone- Henri is one of the lowest earners in the first team. His agents argument is that he should be one of if not the the highest and when other clubs are happy to may more than Forest are prepared to offer and offer prem football then why would he stay?

I think generally Henri is happy at Forest but as things stand, he won't sign a new contract and so it puts the club in a situation of, sell now and make decent money, sell in Jan and make ok money, sell next season and make no money, don't sell, lose money.

Of course, there is a possibility that we get promoted this season and then able to offer Henri a deal which is agreeable to him.

10.) Hatton - imo that means forest are pretty much making all the decisions and are in control of the situation - much more than HL or his agent.

11.) If I was henri I would be a tad embarrassed that only burnley seem keen. he is better than that, burnley are doing a fantastic job with a great manager but hardly the big move is it!!

{Ed034's Note - 'only burnley' are in the league we are despartly trying to get promoted in to, so whether fans like it of not, he would be taking a step up from us

12.) Not being direspectful to burnley ed, but there ain't a long list of clubs keen on henri, maybe one or two who knows. I think burnley have done a terrific job and yes we want what they have, but seriously they are not the big premiership move a good player would look at. maybe when all things are considered (form, head, injuries) burnley is about his level.

{Ed034's Note - qpr have stayed their interest and so have Fulham.
The guy is a very good player, nobody can deny that. For me he certainly is a premier league player and would do a very good job for anyone outside the top 8

{Ed034's Note - lazy or not, they're the first to run with it. Perhaps waiting for confirmation it's sorted first

ed post this for a laugh

There was a young man named Zamora,
He fancied himself as a scorer.
With Keogh asleep, he silenced the sheep
And buried it in the top corner!

Longers375

1.) Ha love it my step dad just sent me this through text and I had to forward it to my sheep loving friends lol
LukeTheRed

2.) Brilliant

3.) Or.
When the ball hits the net and the rams dream is dead that's Zamora!
