Talks have definitely taken place over a move for Karl Darlow to Tottenham. Does anyone know how long he's under contract for?

JAY BC Lower

1.) In August 2013 he signed a new 4 year contract with us. Unless it is a massive figure I can't see him moving plus we have just released a keeper (I know the latter is 2x2=5 but just saying)

2.) Rather new contract, 4 or 5 years, I think!

Forest Dane

3.) If Forest do end up selling Darlow and Lascelles then perhaps Fawaz should consider renaming us as Nottingham Farm.

4.) Darlow recently signed new 4 year deal. Tbh can't see him going, to sit on a bench somewhere. The lad is a red and loves forest. I know money talks but footballers want to play, not sit around. COYR

5.) Nice fat transfer fee with a loan back agreement for the rest of the season perhaps?

6.) Hugo lloris is 27 and will be there number 1 keeper for atleast another 5 years providing anyone else doesn't buy him. Also szczesny is even younger and having a great season. If I were karl I would want 1st team football at this stage of development in his career

7.) If fawaz wants to take forset to the prem & get in to the big time again then we have to keep our best players,

8.) I can report that talks went like this.

Spurs:
Can we buy Darlow?

Our glorious enlightened leader and King Fawaz:

No!

9.) It isn't that long since Darlow broke into the first team at Forest. Since then he has looked solid and confident. I just can't see him going to either Arsenal or Spurs to sit on the bench again no matter how much money they offer. If he does, he isn't the man I thought he is.
He has a better future in the game playing every week. Otherwise he will just fade away without being noticed. Maybe in a few years when he is established as a top keeper and will be number One where ever he goes. Until then he is still learning the art of goalkeeping. Stay with the Reds, they need you and the supporters love you.

10.) Lee Camp is a great example of what happens if your greedy in this game. Went to the prem sat on the bench and now look where he is playing. stay where you are Darlow!

11.) We should not even contemplate selling either of them, not even to loan back as that means we don't have them next season. If we sell them its a sign of no ambition for me?

{Ed034's Note - southampton have sold bale, oxlade-chamberlain, Walcott and yet they have done pretty well.

12.) Is not as simple as saying no, hopefully Darlow wants to stay but if he wants to go to Spurs, I'm no doubt eventually we will agree a fee with them for him.

13.) No point selling unless it is mad money when you have aspirations of Premier League as wit will cost you just as much to replace unless we have suddenly unearthed 2 young talents to replace them, Fawaz and Billy are not Stupid and look at the longer term picture you can not run a business by selling your best assets and with respect to ED your mentions went for a lot more and so did JJ, Reid and Daws and was 10 years ago so unless they are willing to part with 6-8 mill it won't happen.

{Ed034's Note - did you hear me say I suggests we sell for a small amount?? I am saying if they do go, it is not the end of the world.

14.) To quote one source: 'Brazilian Heurelho Gomes is not happy with the lack of game time at the club'. I doubt Darlow would want to experience 'lack of game time' at his age when he is first choice at Forest.

15.) With respect, Gomez suffers from lack of game time because he's rubbish. Lloris ain't all that, would back Darlow to dislodge him within a year.
CJ

{Ed034's Note - lol good point

16.) His contract was 4 n half years we don't need to sell him.

Maynard's going to Wigan

JAY BC Lower

1.) Do wigan want every one we do

2.) Wigan would certainly like to be where we are

3.) I think Wigan are saving money on scouts by just seeing who we look at!

A Block Kev

4.) 09 Jan 2014 13:09:07
It's not well known but we share scouts with Wigan. They have to be able to read proficiently, own a high speed broadband connection and be a dedicated player of Football Manager. In the event of both clubs wanting to pursue the same scouted target, lots are drawn out of an upturned wizards hat. It's unlikely any of this is true but I wanted this post to be in keeping with most of the others the site receives during January.

Stuart Pearce is a very naive manager. I love him, but you can't make wholesale changes to the side and playing players out position DOES NOT WORK. Wise up Pearce, you'll loose your support very soon.

Absolutely chuffed to bits to see Phyco back at the City ground.
Good luck Stuart

If the time isn't right, why did he even turn up for an interview. Pearce always chooses his words carefully and clearly didn't want to be drawn in to criticising Forests owner when he was asked on sport radio. Since Fawaz took over 3 mangers have turned us down.
There's a lot of people on here who refuse to believe that Fawaz interferes with team affairs, but what about the Kuwait lads he tried to get here. They wouldn't have been any managers first choice.
Maybe Pearce genuinely didn't feel the time was right, but I bet I'm not alone in thinking he's just given us some lip service, and there's more to it.

JAY BC Lower

1.) Agree 100%

Straight from the horses mouth. Fawaz wanted to interfear with team selection.

JAY BC Lower

1.) Do you actually understand what you have just put, so you are say that Fawaz has come out and said that he wanted to interfere with team selection did he ok then. Gazza2969

2.) Probably tried to tell billy that cox can't score for toffee and maybe should try one of the other forwards.
How dare he!

3.) To those that didn't just listen to Neil Warnock on the radio.
He said nothing about there being a problem with relocation.
He only said that he was looking forward to putting his battle hat on and doing what he knew best for survival, but wouldn't have been able to do that.
How sad, not that we didn't get Warnock, but that the problem is right at the top.
We are going to struggle to attract top Managers.

4.) Sorry GAZZA. I meant Warnock

5.) Begs the question which horse's mouth?
Are you Billy's legal advisor?

6.) He didn't actually say interfere with team selection, he said the conditions were not right. Interfering came from a journo blog as 'speculation' to what conditions weren't right. Please check the facts.

7.) If there is some truth in this then someone
Is lying somewhere I remember on ET
Fawaz clearly stating he does not interfere
In the managers team selection at all as
That's the managers job and I don't see
Billy letting fawaz pick his team so I think
If warnock has said this then he's talking
Twodle I know who I believe.
In fawaz I trust Damsonred.

8.) No probs jay lol. Gazza2969

Sorry can't see what everyone is getting excited about. I'm pleased we've got a striker, but as yet he's unproven in our leagues. Nothing to say great about Danny Fox and the French guy is a total unknown. I'd be happier with Vaughan sorted, we look different gravy with him in the midfield
Sorry to be a killjoy, a stellar signing please Fawaz and put your money where your mouth is.

JAY BC Lower

{Ed034's Note - words fail me

1.) JAY BC Lower, just one question for you, are you one of the boneheads that tweeted about our brilliant owner, if you are we don't want you, if you are not stop being so negative?

{Ed034's Note - all three players are proven, that is the bit I do not get.

2.) JAY BC Lower, you seem difficult to please. I'm sure Billy has a better idea of what these players bring to the club than you. Stellar signings do not always prove a success and we don't have an endless money pit

3.) If we signed Ronaldo you still wouldn't be happy, and also they are not the targets of Fawaz these are BDs choices so why has fawaz got to put his money where is mouth is

4.) Sorry Ed, but these seem like make do signings as we've unable to get who we really want, either because we can't afford them or they just don't want to come to Forest. What's happened to the likes of Leadbetter, Sako, Rhodes, Whickham to name but a few.
As I said, Vaughan and Hobbs a bonus, but even then I'd like to see a real stellar signing to give the club a massive lift. Not expecting an Ozil or Mata, just someone who's proven in the Championship or Prem, in the 4 Mil region.

{Ed034's Note - so your way of judging a player is basically on the money we pay for them.
we have signed a proven striker who has recently played and scored in champions league, a proven cb who has recently been playing in the top flight of france and a proven left back who has only lost his place because of the emerging talent that is luke shaw.
just because they are not proven in the championship/prem, doesn't mean they are not proven at the highest level

5.) Thanks for posting ed sorry about the swearing that you have quite rightly removed but sometimes I get mad with those who say they are supporters but are obviously not. You are doing a great job.

{Ed034's Note - I have a rule that if someone swears once I will change it, if it happens after that I delete.
I am not being funny with that pal, it just that with the amount of posts that come through, especially this time of the season, I havnt got time to change every post

6.) To the person who clearly doesn't have very much intelligence for calling people names for having an opinion. I've had a season ticket for 35 years and only an person would write some of the things said of Fawaz.
As I've said I'm pleased we've bought a striker and hope he's as good in the championship as he's been in Greece.
Unless we sign at least Vaughan and Hobbs as a bonus, I can't see how we have yet really strengthened up. It's like taking two step forwards and the two steps back. I'm also concerned we will lose JL.
Sorry if I've offended anyone. I will finish by saying, I am still an optimist until the transfer window closes.

7.) I remember we signed a player once as a makeweight oh what was his name again. Oh I remember now Stuart Pearce. If we never took chances we would still be in caves

8.) Yeh, well said ed, think we only paid a million for Lansbury and Geddy before that and they turned out to be diamonds. Lichaj another, Halford etc etc

{Ed034's Note - pato can be added to that list

9.) Ed I like the way we have cast our net far and wide and have not gone for the obviois at massive monies. Yes theremay be bit of a risk but that will happen even with the big guns. How exciting Iit will be when these guys become forest heroes. We did it our way. Rutland red

{Ed034's Note - fans have been asking for us to do this for years as you get better value for your money

10.) I would like to say to save any confusion. I'm pleased we've made signings, would just have liked to see, maybe a bigger signing. Clearly I'm not yet as excited as some about the signings, but never doubt I'm Forest through and through and can't wait to see us give Watford a whopping tonight.
Might see you in the Southbank later Ed and I'll buy you a beer for all the great work you've done.

{Ed034's Note - woohoo lol

11.) Can you imagine if we were buying Roy Keane from Cobh Ramblers nowdays you'd need a tin helmet Ed. P. s thanks for all the great work you've done this window. As Vinnie would say "It's been emotional ".

{Ed034's Note - lol good point

12.) Did we not take a chance on stan colymore only the best striker we have had he was a huge gamble when we got him from southend

13.) 30 Jan 2014 12:20:18
Ed, Fawaz said that we wanted Quality not Quantity, In your opinion do you think all three players fit the quality category. I myself truly do not know at the moment because I have not seen them play but I want them to be a success with us.

{Ed034's Note - yes

14.) Not happy until we sign someone for around 4m! Fawaz put your money where your mouth is! Firstly, the price of the player certainly has no bearing over how successful he will be, and secondly, Fawaz certainly is putting his money where his mouth is. Without his money we would have a first team consisting of about 16 players and if not that then a team of nobodys. Take a second to appreciate please.

15.) Make do signings? can't afford them or can't get them to come to forest? - not sure that can be seen as a negative, that's a nailed on positive for me! we have a list of potential targets, try to do deals that suit us, the player shows some interest in coming to us and it all fit in with what the big man wants to pay- if not move on to the next one. To me it stinks of a well run organisation - absolutely shocking! who needs a ceo :) lol

16.) 30 Jan 2014 13:33:13
Miserable Notts git and I should know I'm one myself
But thank you fawaz

All is good in forest land

Not a chance. We turned down an offer before he was a regular in the side. 6,000,000 plus add ons and that would temp Fawaz, especially as we've got Wilson fit soon

Cooperred is way off the mark. David Johnson is his agent and knowing Johno, if a big offer comes in, he will be gone.

People give GB some stick from time to time. He may not be the best journalist, but he's a Forest man and legend.
Give him a break and take what he and a lot of other ex a Forest players say with a pinch of salt.

JAY BC Lower

{Ed034's Note - nobody says anything different about his playing career with us, which was fantastic, but that does not mean you cannot give him stick about what he writes, which 90% of the time is garbage.

Family reasons, time not right. Who cares what Pearce said. He's not going to say publicly that owner of Forest wants to interfere with team affairs, it's just not his style.
If you're not interested in taking a job, who in their right mind goes to an interview.
As I said in an earlier post, Fawaz wanted to bring in Kuwait Players, so it's blatantly obvious he does interfere and makes that clear to any potential manager.
Wake up and smell the coffee.

JAY BC Lower

{Ed034's Note - fawaz has always said he will mention players to the manager and has always said it is up to the manager. billy always said it is up to him and nobody else who signed.
please stop putting 'wake up and smell the coffee' because it is patronising.
you are reading and hearing everything and then hearing what you think, just like everyone else does. so please do not patronise any other fans
