Apparently Villa close to signing Kodija from Bristol City for £15m. Maybe given up on Britt? Although having said that weren't Bristol themselves linked with Britt? They'd certainly be able to fund it if they sell Kodija.

IlkestonRed

1.) 30 Aug 2016 14:17:25
It doesn't matter who wants Britt if he isn't for sale.

The club have to agree a transfer, it's that simple.

2.) 30 Aug 2016 16:45:57
Redcyclist your forgetting Burke was going nowhere after the Leeds game with the manager having assurance from the owner! Surly your not stupid enough to believe the same doesn't apply to any player we have? If I was Britt I'd get my agent touting me around clubs with Ambition.

3.) 30 Aug 2016 18:47:05
Red cyclist and red dead- the player also has to agree/ want the move! It's easy to knock fawaz but the player and the players agents are also heavily involved in all of the deals.

4.) 30 Aug 2016 19:20:49
Anything around 10 mil and Britt will be gone imo.
And we will get Macheda back to replace him;)

05 Jun 2016 14:16:52
Kenny Burns quoted as saying Forest held talks with Pearson, Fawaz dithered and Pearson took the Derby job 😡😡.

IlkestonRed

1.) 05 Jun 2016 15:05:06
What if Fawaz has in his opinion has a better option than Pearson, perhaps someone that's Managing a team in the Euros in France this summer. It would explain why he did not grab Pearson when he had the chance. If we get the right man in the wait will be worth it.

2.) 05 Jun 2016 15:25:13
Or possibly Fawaz and Pearson spoke, and Fawaz decided he wasn't going to offer the job to him.

Many people believe Pearson would have been a job appointment, perhaps Fawaz and Marinakis are not amongst them.

Just because the powers that be at Forest make a different decision than Kenny Burns might, it doesn't make them wrong. That said, it doesn't make them right either but theirs is the only opnion that actually matters.

3.) 05 Jun 2016 15:47:10
That's what I was hoping Ilkeston Red. so fed up with this waiting! . apart from work, even the "fork and Knife" has ran out of things for me to do! In Fawaz We Must!

4.) 05 Jun 2016 16:15:59
Hey Red DA did you just see that pig go flying by?

5.) 05 Jun 2016 16:33:04
The only thing that's keeping me sane ATM, is the superb weather! Fawaz isn't even tweeting his Cryptics anymore. there is either a great coup in the pipeline, or at this stage, I'm fearing a big let down on the cards. really hope I'm wrong
😕😕😕.

6.) 05 Jun 2016 16:46:00
Agree with bsered.
Unlikely that we are in for a Euro 16 manager. Only Martin O'Neill is remotely possible and I can see us ending us ending up with Keane with MON as DOF before MON as a full time manager.

There's a lot a good managers out there. A lot have been taken but still a good handful left Martinez anyone?

7.) 05 Jun 2016 17:23:35
god were you been for like a week?

8.) 05 Jun 2016 18:03:40
bsered. I have just asked a question, not predicted anything nor seen any pigs flying. Fawaz is playing his cards close to his chest. It could be for any number of reasons. It's just Fawaz said he was speaking to two managers with Nottingham connections, Pearson would appear to be 1, Some people thought the other was Martin Hugh Michael O'Neill. IF we can believe what has been said strangely Fawaz did not take up the option to speak to Pearson further. Leaving us wondering is there any chance Martin could be at the City Ground after the Euros. There has been loads of Hype in the press linking us to every available manager possible. As Forest are out of the FFP with the possibility of further investment coming in. I could see us attract someone like O'Neill if he gives up international management. I can't see him getting a premiership team. So why not Forest?

9.) 05 Jun 2016 18:59:07
Don't know if I'm reading to much into the announcement of a pre season friendly at Grantham, MON first managerial club.

10.) 05 Jun 2016 20:12:16
upnextyearureds apologies. Being on holiday. But still. Plenty of good managers about!

11.) 05 Jun 2016 21:53:52
The minority who have continually slated the owner have made him apathetic towards us all.

He now feels he owes us nothing and therefore gives us nothing.

Never mind though we've still got our local rag and the washed out stars who played for us decades ago providing us with all the information and comment that we need.

Of course our former stars want the best for us provided that it's a system that means their paymaster can print their drivel journalism and sell it as breaking rumour rather than yesterday's drivel.

I would like to personally thank FAH for trying to turn the already rotten club around that when he purchased was just about managing to still dine out on past glories.

Those dreaming sweet dreams that we have somehow found the diversion end sign soon to rejoin the road of the elite carry on dreaming.

Look no further than the previous regime for the reasons why we are terminally ill. Sadly, FAH despite trying, didn't have the skill or seemingly the wealth to provide the major surgery and the hug end after care we need.

12.) 05 Jun 2016 23:11:42
Jesus 2 star, have you got the Samaritans on speed dial?

13.) 06 Jun 2016 03:42:56
It seems pretty obvious to me that Forest have wanted Martyn O'neill since the beginning and are happy to wait. It also seems obvious to me that Martyn O'neill is pretty keen too. If he wasn't he'd have distanced himself or signed the contract that is on the table from the Irish. Even those closest to O'neill have implied that it might be on the cards. John Robertson speaks to him regularly, and when asked, suggested that it was worth Forest making an approach nudge, nudge, wink, wink. Forget all the other names mentioned. We're waiting for Martin O'neill, and I believe he'll be with us in two - three weeks from now.

14.) 06 Jun 2016 06:29:37
IF O'Neil is announced as next manager, the city ground will have to open up a humble pie shop next to the ground for the majority of supporters that think it won't happen. M

Forget sources and links, I am under the impression him and some of his back room staff (Steve Walford and Gary Parker) as well as a role for another ex player to join the club in some capacity (John Robertson) has already been agreed in principal but is not going to be announced until after Republic of Ireland exit.

Think of this what you will, rumour, fact, fabrication? But just remember those names and come June 24th when Martin O'Neil steps down, we still don't have a manager and everyone jusmped on the band wagon, just remember to come on here and apologise to a few of the people that have had abuse of serguesting it back in April!

15.) 06 Jun 2016 09:09:44
Well Mystic Red, let's hope the wait is worth it all and your prediction comes to fruition.

Don't post often but has anyone else heard DF to be sacked after tomorrows game and replaced by non-league Nigel? Not suggesting this is fact but apparently come from Collymore.

IlkestonRed

1.) 24 Oct 2015 00:35:30
I only seen that collymore mentioned it, not sure where it came from. is nigel the man? in my eyes no but he won't be worse than df. he assembled a very good squad of players on a minimum budget and even got chris martin on a free. he can wheel and deal just as good as dougie, his football is pants but at least you know you will finish mid table rather than hanging around the bottom like dougie.

2.) 24 Oct 2015 07:00:05
no way do you want nigel clough, i even feel that get the old european cup team together and play a match with the squad now at forest, they would make a good show against them. even the players now at forest, i don't rate them at all. they all make too many mistakes at the wrong time, and no idea how to put a ball into a good spot. they will be in top 6. next season in league 1.

3.) 24 Oct 2015 07:35:13
Nigel Clough. Please NO! Not much of a step up from DF. If DF goes, then I would put Jack Lester in temporary charge, see what he can do.

4.) 24 Oct 2015 10:19:01
Mange to do alright at direby with his hands tied he assembled the squad mclaren took over think he'd sort out the players we've got and actually get them playing with some pride and passion for the short they're wearing.

5.) 24 Oct 2015 10:23:57
Nothing would surprise me anymore, think I may go into hibernation until this nightmare ends. Fawaz will see this club in ruins.

App from sports related TV channel states reds set to offer Leigterwood a contract if he proves fitness. Could be a good enforcer if he can stay fit!

IlkestonRed

1.) This guy seems to get injured every time he hits the deck or somebody comes into contact with him. No thanks, we already have enough to complement the treatment room without another!

2.) I thought he was pretty decent for reading in the PL but I agree, he's two injuries in two games I think so anything other than pay as you play wouldn't really make sense.

3.) SP has said if he can prove fitness he will offer him a deal. Think he's down to play tomorrow against Burton

4.) To be fair he looked solid til he had to go off on Saturday! Broke up play well n looked forward with passes!

5.) 'IF' he can stay fit. with our record hmm

6.) No thanks, just another sick note, move on and bring someone else in.

7.) Might as well go for him but only on a pay as play basis and then it's in his best interest s to stay as fit as possible. He'll find it hard to get any other deal elsewhere with his recent history. Win win, he stays fit and plays well we pay he doesn't and nothing lost.

8.) No injury prone players!
we have enough already!

Might as well kept mousi.

9.) I'd like to think he'd be good for us but. Injured in the warm up before the Ilkeston game and now injured not even 20 mins in against WBA.

Move him on SP or offer him a 'pay as you play' deal

10.) A better version of moussi- even looks like him!
Never going to be amazing- just a squad player (but every club is only as good as it's depth+ plus a 30 goal a season player?) lol

11.) Sorry I just don't think he's good enough. mid table championship. past his best. we should be aiming higher. we need width and pace and something different in attack. and we are running out of tine to get people in. sorry not good enough

{Ed034's Note - he been in the prem for years. He is good enough as an option

02 Aug 2014 17:33:11
SP stated in interview on radio station which talks about sport that he feels the squad still needs 4 more signings. Went on to say that they're in talks with clubs and hopes to have another signing in by Saturday. Also hinted at an outside chance of two signings before the big kick off.

Who could it be?

IlkestonRed

1.) Pearce has lots of time for leigertwood, although unlucky with injuries pearce does seem very keen, so he may be one.

2.) Saw him at York and he looks so unfit. I thought SP had picked him out the crowd for a game.
However in SP we trust so if he sees him day to day then there must be something to offer? He certainly has the presence to be our enforcer in midfield

3.) Leigertwood looked half decent today! Til he over stretched n had to go off!
I personally would like to see a pacey striker as lars and Matty don't look the quickest!

On a side note it was great to see Chris Cohen back today!

4.) Completely agree. A striker who can play on the shoulder of the last man and has plenty of pace is required

5.) After seeing Lars yesterday I will agree he's not the fastest but he's very strong and was able to muscle himself onto the through balls.

Lars has scored nearly 3 times more goals in less games than Dumitru in his career. So let's replace Lats with Dumitru 🤔

Honestly words fail me.

31 Aug 2016 09:09:35
If we sign Bendtner it will illustrate how little Fawaz knows about football. Bendtner is a waste of time, blown every chance he's ever had at every club he's played for. Don't care about any supposed ability, the guy has never applied himself. He typifies the disinterested millionaire footballer stereotype who doesn't give a toss about the shirt he happens to be playing in.

IlkestonRed

1.) 31 Aug 2016 09:46:47
Might just as well sign McGuigan same attitude.

2.) 31 Aug 2016 11:33:26
1978: I think McGuigan's left hook and right cross might have a telling effect on some of the Championship defences!

30 Aug 2016 19:25:51
Obviously underwhelmed at the min but I reckon Carayol on a free is a decent signing (if it materialises) .

I know we should reserve judgement and all that on the Italian striker but can't say I'm excited by his arrival! Would rather save on his wages and go all out for someone like Nhaki Wells who is quick, mobile and can finish. Although he's probably irreplaceable, we need to make up for the loss of Burke's pace and guile to continue with PM's brand of football.

23 May 2016 22:07:21
Given recent developments at Old Trafford, how about Ryan Giggs as our new leader once he gets the inevitable Jose elbow? He clearly wants to go into management and I can't see which Prem team would give him the opportunity. Just a thought?

IlkestonRed

1.) 24 May 2016 09:59:39
I am sure he will pay his own way to come and explore the off the pitch opportunities that our fine city has to offer.

Not sure what qualifies him as a "leader"/ manager as he has spent all his time since retiring being the official bench mascot at MU getting his mates on the coaching staff to do the work?

2.) 24 May 2016 10:46:07
No thanks - he has zero to
No experience.

3.) 24 May 2016 12:58:31
The man's a legend and must have a ton of knowledge and experience to pass on but he has all the charisma of a boiled egg. No thanks.

4.) 24 May 2016 13:17:26
He sits on the bench and his eyes flit around like crazy - is he looking out for talent in the crowd or watching the players?

15 May 2015 08:08:53
Jermain Beckford anyone?? Name that stands out from Bolton's release list.

IlkestonRed

1.) 15 May 2015 09:30:16
Maybe Beckford, he has scored 15 goals for Preston on loan from Bolton this season. I would think they will want to keep him especially if they don't go up, he is 31 and maybe not able to cut it in the Championship ?

2.) 15 May 2015 09:30:57
He's shute

3.) 15 May 2015 09:36:33
Know what you mean as regards his goals record especially at Leeds but doesn't he have a questionable attitude?

4.) 15 May 2015 10:20:02
I think Beckford like Garner has found his level at PNE

5.) 15 May 2015 11:24:50
One of the highest earners at Bolton so again I doubt he would come to us on 10k, I wouldn't take him anyway another player with a bad attitude who could disrupt the dressing room.

Morrison to Newcastle unlikely, apparently McManaman to Geordies more likely.

Got a feeling Lacelles to Geordies for £3m is the 'strange' news we've been hearing about. Although it would certainly be strange and frustrating considering the other offers we've turned down, I don't think it would be the end of the world if Lacelles were to leave. Hobbs and Mancienne would always be first choice for me, with Fox also looking the part at CB along with back up from Liang, Collins and Riera. Landsbury is the key man I feel we need to keep to really build a team around him, plus we don't have the quality cover in midfield.

Admittedly Newcastle is a massive club and there's more chance of game time there than at a top 4 club, however they're a club that appear to have completely stagnated with a really negative atmosphere around the place. Forest though is a club on the the up with an air of excitement around the place, but if Jamaal feels it's a good career move good luck to him!

Garcia is certainly interesting but Warnock would be my choice. I know he's stated he wants one more season and all that but if it were a successful season, I'm sure he'd stay on.

Forever Red 27, you make some good points and I agree Darlow is certainly the more talented of the two, however it's not simply the sale of these players that has us upset. Rather it's the manner of the sale and the way in which the manager has been completely undermined by a hierarchy which keeps on appearing amateurish. We really need some answers as we're still awaiting the sponsorship announcement and SP has hinted at the club needing 'ready money' which does raise a few alarm bells. The events of yesterday have left a lot of us anxious so I really hope Fawaz can reassure us today.
