If you play an entire game with your 10 outfield men in your own half with backs to the opposition goal how are you ever going to win? Sorry but MON's appointment has been a disaster. What does Keane do apart from sitting around looking hard?

Dr N

1.) 14 Apr 2019 07:54:44
It was amazing how we fluffed so many chances then if we were never in Blackburn's half.🤔

2.) 15 Apr 2019 14:54:49
Suppose that's down to oneil not being anle to lut the vall in the net

It's not that our players are untalented but we have too many similar, lightly built nippy skilful ball players. Oppositions know we are easy to rough up and press against. We need some power in the engine room - some experienced tacklers and ball winners.

I am not anti-MW and think he's taking us broadly in the right direction. You can probably sense a BUT coming. But 10 defeats already is a terrible record. Tellingly, we have not drawn a single match (only Bristol Rovers and East Fife in all 7 English and Scottish professional divisions have also so far drawn no games this season) . To compete effectively and maybe become a promotion candidate, some more steel needs building in to enable us to close games down and scrap ugly for points. We have some lovely ball players but look physically small and weak compared to other sides. Some more power and muscle is my January priority.

Dr N

1.) 27 Nov 2017 12:00:15
DrN my posts have been saying that for a while now, the inability to get a battling draw. Fefending set pieces and closing down still seems problematic.
We are in a reasonable place in this league considering where we came from and promotion with this squad never a priority. Mark warburtln is so full of footbal cliche's that irritate.
The commentary on the bbc website said that forest are continuing with the warburton way of playing it out from the back but cardiff have them sussed and are closing down quickly and denying any space. mix it up please.

2.) 27 Nov 2017 12:50:55
He seems to be focused on playing "his" style regardless and use his favourite players when ever possible.
No plan B as we again saw yesterday when he waited till 70 and then threw on the subs???
I don't think it helps that he has never played at this level

3.) 27 Nov 2017 13:18:46
Reddog68

Did Mourinino, Fergusson ever play Premiership football.

Pearce, Di Canio, and Hasselbaink all played at the top, none were that successful.

4.) 27 Nov 2017 13:41:26
I would agree with all if you here, and think it sums up our situation pretty well. For me, MW hasn't done badly so far, but the inconsistency from his teams, and some of his erratic decisions has led some fans to question his ability. Personally, I think MW lacks the experience due to his non football background. He was fortunate at Brentford and Rangers where the cracks were papered over by the promotions, and you could afford to over look these short comings. For me, it's now all about getting the next transfer window right. We need more firepower, pace, defensive resolve and more creativity. The question is can MW create that winning formula?

5.) 27 Nov 2017 16:31:10
Grey and Red
Who has mentioned premiership football?
For the record we are in the Championship lol
The point being MW has only played non league where Furvason and Jose have played at a higher level and have nothing to do with MW

All I have said is I don't think it helps but it has made my day to hear a "fan" who thinks we are in the premiership 😂

6.) 27 Nov 2017 17:53:23
Reddog68

If i remember right Fergusson managed Man Utd in the Premiership, but never played in the Premiership, or it's equal.

Mourinino has managed Chelsea, and Man Utd in the Premiership, but never played in the Premiership, or it's equal.

They have both been successful in the Premiership as managers so their lack of playing in it has not stopped them from being successful.

Warburton has not played in the Championship, although I'm not suggesting he is as good as the above, if they can be successful in a league they have not played in why can not Warburton?

Very few good,or great players make good,or great managers.

7.) 27 Nov 2017 18:01:44
Red dog the point he is making is that you don’t have to have been successful as a player at a certain level to be a success when managing at that same level in the future. Blimey it’s tough going in here sometimes 🤔

8.) 27 Nov 2017 18:42:29

I got that mate but found it a little strange to bring 2 highly successful managers into it when we are talking about Warbo, hense the play on words and laughs
We can throw names into the hat all day
Gary "Rat boy" Neville played at the highest level under Fergi but sucked as a manager

I just feel that playing no higher than non league "possibly could" be a hindrance as he uses text book systems and can't call on judgements based on his experience of playing at a decent level
It either works or it doesn't which is why we don't draw

9.) 27 Nov 2017 20:13:54
Only Playing non league football shows your ability as a footballer not as a man manager or a tactician. I don’t always particularly agree with MWs tactics but I don’t think it’s got anything to do with his actual footballing ability or the experience he gained as a player. Non league footballers can offer a lot of positives that high flyers from the premiership wouldn’t even understand.

10.) 27 Nov 2017 21:09:58
As stated in my post, I don't think it helps
That's all I'm saying

11.) 27 Nov 2017 21:34:00
The other point to make here as well is Warbo is what I would call a text book coach. Having taken all the fa coaching badges, he has been trained in a certain way, and thus delivers his set up as such. An example of that is zonal marking. Ironically, Stuart Pearce is the same in that you have these set ideas, and can't or won't deviate when things go wrong, as the coaching badges don't tell you what to do, that comes from experience.

12.) 28 Nov 2017 06:08:15
My point exactly Murdoch

18 Jun 2017 17:21:09
As I have been posting for a while Britt will go soon and there will be no more signings apart from promising/ cheap ones. Disappointing but perhaps inevitable. I expect the likes of Cash and Grant to come through next season and if we can hold on to all our other stars Forest can challenge for promotion next year. Were Huddersfield and Reading really better than the Forest we saw in brief glimpses last time? I don't think so.

Dr N

1.) 18 Jun 2017 18:20:48
Under MW we played good football against the top teams, but was rubbish against defensive teams. That is no good if you want to be successful, until MW sorts out our defence and finds a couple of creative players success will not happen.

2.) 18 Jun 2017 18:52:34
We're not going to get promoted if Britt goes who's going to score the goals we can't relie on Cummings the Scottish league is a lot different to the championship.

3.) 19 Jun 2017 09:45:53
Pure speculation.

4.) 19 Jun 2017 10:48:11
So Dr N, because you have been posting for a while that means Britt is leaving, lol.

I've been posting for a while now that means I'm a super model.

I don't think anyone has actually made a bid yet have they? Personally if I was a buying club paying top dollar I would at least wait until Jan to see if he is injury free now.

5.) 19 Jun 2017 11:02:32
Cant see MW pulling the trigger on Britt. I'm sure the new owners will back him to keep Britt. I know we are buying young attacking players but Britt is the guaranteed goals.
Would be surprised if he went. Watch this space.

16 Apr 2017 22:41:27
It's not being negative to say that Friday's was the worst game outcome for a long time. Safety could have been assured with a decent performance but now we are faced with four tough matches. I am still optimistic but it is going to be a nervy time. Did Fawaz really have to sell the club right now? The speculation, in the middle of a relegation battle, must be unsettling for players and management alike.

Dr N

1.) 16 Apr 2017 23:18:23
You say 4 tough matches coming up! i don't see it like that I see it as 1 tough match and three matches where the other teams have nothing to play for. cardiff qpr and Ipswich will be just going through the motions of winding down the season and thinking more about next season. we have the beating of all 4of these teams maybe reading will put a bit more in but I recon 2 wins and a draw from last 4 matches which will easily keep us up.

2.) 17 Apr 2017 08:05:44
At the end of the day i would rather be in our position rather than Burton, Blackburn and Wigan.

3.) 17 Apr 2017 09:35:34
If you think Warnock will let Cardiff go through the motions your living in cloud Cuckoo land.

4.) 17 Apr 2017 09:42:26
Getting rid of FAH would be the best thing to happen to Forest in the last few miserable years. Some kind of agreement between Owner, Management (not just the Manager), Coaches and Players to concentrate on a club vision and strategic plan is desperately needed if things are to improve on the pitch, and fate decides at what point that happens, wherever the club are in terms of the EFL.

5.) 17 Apr 2017 11:42:12
The remainder of our games will all be tough, no manager let's their players go through the motions, the Nffc players are so inconsistent and you just don't know if they are going to put up a fight or just go through the motions! Anything can happen and probably will happen, will Nffc play safe during any games to just get a point? Especially if the three below us are losing, i personally hope not and we push hard to win every game.

6.) 17 Apr 2017 13:41:08
That is priceless, blaming Fawaz for Saturday's result. it looks like the guy is selling up and cutting all ties, surely that is a result.

7.) 17 Apr 2017 17:11:39
Nice to see Cardiff have nothing to play for, some people on here have no sense of reality we now have a simple 3 points to collect on Saturday really just get out of your dream world we'll be lucky if we get out of this relegation battle this season i sincerely hope I'm wrong.

8.) 17 Apr 2017 21:26:16
Just proves after today's results people saying that Cardiff, QPR and Ipswich have nothing to play for a total joke especially Ipswich stuffing Newcastle this relegation battle will go down to the last game, also Burton squad probably has half the talent as ours does just proves what players can do with the right attitude unlike some who wear the forest shirt btw fans where superb today again pity some of the players don't have the same passion.

Has he actually seen these goalkeepers play or are we just signing them on recommendations?

A few pre-season thoughts.

1. Forest have had 47 managers since 1897, 32 of them since Brian Clough retired in 1993. The only one, apart from Frank C, to take us anywhere near was Billy Davies about 10 years ago. Stability at the top is absolutely essential from now on.

2. Kenny Burns doesn't know everything but he is usually not a bad judge. He doubts whether the latest boss knows enough about the Championship which relates to my first point. We have been there before but let's hope KB is wrong. Burns also worries about our lack of fire power and I think most of us agree there.

3. Good luck to Benny Osborn. Forest will miss him but he deserves a go at the top level.

Dr N

{Ed001's Note - on point 2, if you get point 1 then it will give him time to learn about the Championship.}

1.) 29 Jul 2019 12:12:18
Time is proving to be an illusive commodity.

2.) 29 Jul 2019 12:50:43
SO Dave Bassett an Paul Hart didn’t do a good job for us?

3.) 29 Jul 2019 13:20:04
Not according to Dr. N😂😂🤔🤔.

4.) 29 Jul 2019 13:23:10
I guess you could say nobody has done a good job for us because nobody has taken us up.
Football has changed so much in the last 20 years. Owners are now more important than managers, and this is where Forest have been let down. Until we have a situation where Owner, Board, Manager and Players all see eye to eye and are of one vision we will not improve. MON stated this quite clearly, and so I fear we are still not what and where we should be.

5.) 29 Jul 2019 14:09:09
Spot on Arran 85 Paul Hart did a fine job with some good youngsters and was on so close. Good old Dave Basset could talk the hind legs off a donkey and was let down by the infamous clown Van Hoodjoink ( which was a shame as he was a cracking striker and the best free kick taker I've seen at Forest and one of the best I've seen ever) . Time waits for no man when a club that stinks of desperation to succeed rears its ugly head season after season.

6.) 29 Jul 2019 18:54:12
Bassett and Hart did well but had rugs pulled away. Under BD in 2009/ 10 it was there for the taking but investement wasn't forthcomimg at the critical January transfer moment.

7.) 29 Jul 2019 21:51:57
Fans expectations surely won't affect club performance to much of an extent. Of all the reasons suggested, its owner meddeling that's cost us the prem in the last decade or so. I honestly think at least half of the managers we've had in that time could have done it if left to it for a few years.

17 May 2019 07:26:12
Over a 46 game season, most clubs can point to incidents and say 'this wasn't fair, that wasn't fair, we were robbed there. ' However, two unusually blatant bits of cheating denied Forest 4 points - the hand ball equaliser at Leeds and the ridiculous penalty at West Brom - so I am pleased neither will be getting promoted.

On Derby (and this is not easy to say) I think we have to be adult and admit that was a fantastic performance the other night. Also we have to acknowledge that Lampard in his first season has out-performed both the highly experienced managers Forest have employed this year.

Dr N

1.) 17 May 2019 10:06:29
Fair post Dr.

05 May 2019 10:38:51
I have always been perplexed by claims that Notts County is a great club with a massive tradition of success. They have been promoted a few times over the decades but where are the trophies? Which of their past players will be remembered as some of the game's finest? Les Bradd? Come on now! Does their apparently legendary, Jimmy Sirrel deserve comparison with Brian Clough? Only in a nightmare. Their fans are a generally miserable bunch who hate Forest for achieving so much. They revelled in our relegation woes a few years back so I have no sympathy.

Dr N

Brilliant synopsis of the truth DR. 25 years in the bottom 2 divs and when you look a massive % of the last 70 too. De

02 Mar 2019 16:54:17
It doesn't seem to matter who the manager is. It's one or two steps forward and one or two steps back. Not since Billy Davies's first spell (getting on for 10 years ago) have we been able to put a run of results together.

Dr N

1.) 02 Mar 2019 16:59:42
Without grabbon we look toothless the problem is we don't have a decent backup option upfront Murphy holds it up ok but has an awful first touch and shots on target count and bonatini just doesn't look fit I'm confident mon will sort this in the summer

2.) 02 Mar 2019 17:02:53
Its next season we need to worry about. Get to know the MON style till end of the season and then go for it next season with a few signings

3.) 02 Mar 2019 17:29:47
Told my nephew murphy has the touch of a double decker bus and he thought it was hilarious

4.) 02 Mar 2019 20:51:29
Just your nephew then?😂🤣😂

5.) 02 Mar 2019 22:16:23
O'neil won't get the summer. Promotion or he'll be gone and I don't think we're good enough to go up.

The memory can genuinely play tricks. Many people will tell you we watched the 66 final in colour when it was actually broadcast in black and white. The colour film we are used to was shot for the cinema and only used later on tv.
