In reply to my earlier post i totally agree 2ith you rutland red. Brereton on the wing, no hobbsy or lichaj, one up front at home very strange decisions. Gary lineker went to barca and cruyff played him as a winger and lineker ended up being garbage. I also don't buy into this all players being versatile nonsense, roy keane was a central midfielder you wouldn't play him as a winger, so yes play players in their correct positions barring one or two versatile squad players most need a regular position. My point from last post was expectations are still high or is it just pure frustration at home games when after 20 minutes you can hear groans after all we've had our fair share of dross over the years. Also its been the same nearly every season we build ourselves up in hope too quickly and after a few games to me anyway the
season is over and you just know we in for a rough ride. But there is some stability and the football's not bad even if there are a few bizzare decisions, i just think we should give a manager a season or 2 rigjtly or wrongly more damage is done firing people too quickly.

I agree but warbo has to either adapt or change his outlook. We are easy to play against and now the goals are drying up as are the chances thenwe could start to slide. As red in exile says itsctime to wake up and smell the coffee before its too late. Yes we need stability but reality will also be in the view of our chairman!!!!

What us fans want is simple. We want watch a team at home who aren't easy meat. We want to feel that teams are coming to the CG knowing they've got a tough ask to turn us over. Our owners want this too so that the gates at home are god because the fans see a good solid performance and go home happy. I believe those are he realistic expectations of both parties. Well gueSs what the defending right now is appalling and any team will feel they can turn us over. So much so the gates will drop because the fans know anyone can turn us over and will quickly become disenchanted again.

This won't wash with the owners because they know that commercially we need to get good gates and they know we will turn out if the gates are good.

So right now the football is worse to watch than dougie and the defending is the worst I've seen since the brolly man.

Warburton - get it sorted.

I agree WB must stay , he worked the magic with Brentford and will do so with us. The passing game is how all the top
Clubs play. Ok we have messed it up a few times. However it is getting better. There was one such move I saw that almost led to a goal. So let's wait and see. I would like to see Bereton and Vellios up front as a pair for Saturday. I have no doubt the amazing away supporters will carry on singing and chanting on Saturday.

I'm a bit ambivalent about Warbo's playing it out from the back at all costs philosophy. On the plus side when it works it looks good and is effective also it worked at Brentford and Rangers where he had success. Also you have to admire a man who sticks to his principals.

On the other hand,it's costing us a significant number of goals as players are panicked into losing the ball in dangerous areas ie Osbourne v Wolves, Bouchalakis v Chelsea, Smith v Sheffield Wednesday, Worrall v Brentford etc. It's a small step from sticking to your principles to being see as stubborn and inflexible.

Surely you have to have a half way house where we play the football in their half and scrap like dogs in packs to press and win it back when we lose it and, like Fabregas on Walker last night, sadly, be prepared to use a little bit of skulduggery and cynicism to foul a player who's making progress.

Before posters howl in complaint that it's not the Forest way, well fair enough but Barcelona and the top teams are coached to do it if the press is by passed and the defence being counter attacked. I remember Clough's teams playing out would get it wide asap to Robbo or O Neill and later Pearce to make progress down the flanks where losing the ball is not as dangerous as centrally.

Of course I can't remember any of those greats losing the ball very often if at all.Didn't Einstein define insanity as doing exactly the same things and expecting a different result? Come on Warbo, bend a little and let's play the percentages a bit more.It just causes demoralisation to give daft goals away by carrying out the managers vision of how the game should be played.

I think Brereton could play off Murphy well. With Cummings and Velios as back up. Sounds good to me. I don't think it would hurt us to go back to basics and field a 442 for a bit. It would also give big Murph a bit more space to operate in with Bens movement pulling gaps in the defence.

MW clearly has a very specific type of football that he believes in and it doesn't look like he's going to change that anytime soon. He puts a lot of faith in the players to go out and deliver exactly what they've been practising on the training ground. The problem he faces is that in the main, we do not have the players to pull off this style of play, especially at the back. We will keep making mistakes gifting teams goals as we're just not that comfy on the ball when being pressed. When we're not pressed it can look quite attractive but there's no substance to it, we simply don't move the ball quick enough for it to be effective. Why did we get rid of one of the players we had who we so comfortable at the back with the ball (pinillos) baffles me. That said, I think MW is about managing players who he knows he can mentor, maybe some players Vellios, Pinillos don't fit that bill.

Well put stokey and I like Brereton don't rate him this season but that could be because he can't play out wide well I'm afraid if you can't mix it up and don't fit into the way mw wants to play then bye De bye you redddssss

Millwall showed the way in defending in the first game which we should embrace but make sure the guys up front have their shooting boots on and finish?
Simples!
