I think a few people on here are forgetting how good Oliver Burke was before he left. He was literally bulldozing teams and scoring goals for fun. He would also be a different type of option to what we have.

As an impact player he would also be far better than Dias. I'd definitely try to get him on loan or if available on the cheap. He could be the final piece in the attacking 4 jigsaw for me.

I remember Oli Burke 6 goals in 31 matches, always ran in straight line, never looked up to play the right pass or understood the offside rule?

Still has potential but I have doubts that he is a quick learner to play our quick one and two touch passing game?

RC, With the part of his huge wages we would have to part with he would be a very dear impact player.
West Brom will not take less than what he cost them, and why should they, they will just keep loaning him out.

They are looking to cut their losses on Burke so we wouldn't have to pay all of his wages. He had only just started scoring regularly when he left. Like I say, people just clearly can't remember. Look at the last few reports in the local rags player ratings before he left. He was on fire.

He was playing where he'd grown up (in a footballing sense). It's obvious leaving home before he was old enough has wrecked his career since he left. Were you ready to live in Germany (without speaking the language) without friends and famil as a teenager. His confidence was destroyed. That is also why he wasn't ready for the Prem.

{Ed001's Note - Burke failed in Germany and the Prem because he is too thick. They called him empty hard drive in Germany because he lacked the intelligence to understand tactical instructions.}

And whoever put this in banter can you please stop putting general chat in banter then putting my rumours in banter. It is annoying.

There is a rumour that Burke might be coming back on loan on the back pages of a local rag. Keep up please. :P

{Ed001's Note - you never posted a rumour you posted idle chit chat.}

Think if he were to come back it might be what puts him back to his best as he’s not looked at all comfortable since leaving, I bet he 100% regrets leaving us

Not my memory of burke if I’m honest RC. FAH did very well there I think. I’m not saying I wouldn’t take a chance for the right money but don’t remember it quite as you describe.

Matty cash is a far better player,you have to defend as a winger as well,something burke can't do.

We are definitely discussing the Oli Burke rumour Ed even if I didn't explicitly state "it is rumoured he is available".

Are you sure the problem in Germany wasn't depression and not understanding instructions because he didn't speak the language. I wasn't there obviously but so many kids fail first time they move abroad.

{Ed001's Note - yes you are discussing a rumour, not posting up a rumour.

Yes I am very sure. The same issue has continued at West Brom, he is simply not very bright and that is not going to suit modern managers like Karanka, who give detailed instructions to players.}

Oh and I agree Cash is a better all round player. But for the specific job of running straight through defences with pace (e.g. against slow full backs or tired ones later in the game Burke is as good as any player.

If he's available cheap a few extra goals from him might be the difference between play-offs and automatic.

Only thing is,if he's not good enough for WBA bench,is he really good enough for ours bearing in mind we already have a few loans and only so many can be in the match day squad?
Personally I'd leave it,just a flash in the pan,wingers come along all the time with pace have one good season and fade away,Franz Carr the prime example.

It comes down to giving him a chance I guess. If he needs confidence to perform he has no chance. He is good enough for the West Brom bench in my opinion. That is how you buy bargains. You find underrated players and manage them better but it is all about opinions and what type of player the manager wants.

Franz Carr is a poor comparison. He had no end product all along. They stuck with him because they thought he had potential. We know Burke can produce the end product because we've seen it.

All this could be academic if Appiah comes through during the busy Christmas schedule.

Yacob was deemed not good enough for WBA as well but it doesn't make him a bad player. I liked Burke and think he's much better than Dias or Goncalves.
