In anything you do probably the important factor is confidence.
There is a lot of debate about Ben Bererton on here at present and I think the lads confidence took a real kicking when MW continually played him out wide ,we could all see how uncomfortable he was there but it just went on ,make no mistake Ben is a great prospect but it,s going to take a time to repair him and so called fans putting their fourtpenth in won,t help .
What he needs is backing by management and fans ,Don,t forget his age ,get behind him.
CARLO

Spot on Carlo he is only 18 and still learning,To me he starts every game as the alternative is vellios and he hasn't shown much when Karanka has played him.
Murphy has downed tools and we are not going to get relegated now as the teams below us can't even manage draws never mind wins.
They always say keep a settled side when results are going well so stick with him.

Said that about brereton.warbo has set him back in his development and he’s lost 6months of champ experience as a striker.

Complete tosh. What an evil man that Warburton was! Have you heard yourself?

Well Bongo, one role - that of a lone striker - is often holding up the ball with your back to the goal. Can you explain when that skill is developed playing out wide? You can't. Sutton is quite right and I don't think anyone used the word evil. Hyperbole isn't helpful. We're safe in all reality so we can afford to bank the odd nil-nil if it means Ben is learning. By the way. Fig and Fox: Who would have picked that brilliant partnership? Oh yeah, Karanka did. I reckon AK knows more than any of us put together. Onwards and Upwards together!

I’ve always liked fox incidentally, everyone on this site slates him. I said a week or so ago when we are mathematically safe let the likes of brereton go for it which is basically what you have just said. My initial comment was not to play brereton on Sunday because I desperately want to beat direly and he missed an empty net from six yards last night as well as a couple of other chances. Chances I’m certain Velios would have taken. Get the sheep out the way, make sure we’re safe then give him his chance.

The whole squads confidence was shot under MW that’s what some people on here who haven’t been to games don’t understand, I didn’t think it was a good time to sack a manager and at times thought we played well under MW but going to most games you could see as results faultered and MW messed with selection and tactics the players didn’t know what he wanted, so many looked broken by time he left. Karanka has done the right thing bringing in new faces and resting certain players who had had awful abuse and lost confidence whilst letting others play through. I think by next season or even the end of this we will see massively improved performances from the likes of Brereton, Worrall, Manchienne, Lichij, Smith and maybe even Mackay, we are already seeing the likes of Cash, Osbourne, Fox, Darinkwa and Dowell improving and looking like they are happier and playing with more freedom and confidence in recent games.

Why are you so certain vellios would score?
His goal ratio is very poor he's not a goalpoacher or scores two or three,he just hits the odd wonder goal.
Fox I've never liked or rated but that's about partnerships at the back,They don't play alone like Brereton.
Sometimes the best players don't make a good team.
Look at man Utd the best partnership they had was Bruce and pallister one very good the other average.
Best we had was Lloyd and burns .
Fox is complementing tobias and so far it's working.
Like Carlo says it's sometimes about confidence darikwa tobias fox and Osborn? Most would have cringed at that back four and while not perfect it's working better than most formations we've tried.

I agree with Worrall, should have snapped Burnleys hand off at 10m. Also agree about Osbourn to a certain degree as if we weren't short for LB cover I wouldn't want to see him take the place of any of our current starters in midfield. Brereton and Cash however have a great future and need exposure to first team football, there's no harm giving them that when the alternatives aren't world beaters anyway.
