As Paul lambert looks to slash his wage bill he has told Darren bent and Stephen Ireland they are free to leave the club. Darren bent is wanted by a couple of prem clubs but championship side Nottingham Forest have shown an interest in Ireland.

Let's hope so eh? A hungry Ireland needing to play first team football he could achieve a lot at CG if given a fair tilt I reckon.
If Billy can get him playing to the standard he was two or three ago he'd be immense. him and pep would boss the championship

Lets hope not. a big chump if you ask me. we have enough quality in midfield right now. We don't need him. We need better and more defenders, fast wingers and bolstering strike force.

3.) 15 Jun 2013
Doesn't he like to get on the pop? Had ample opportunity to get his act together at Villa and hasn't. Reckon Billy might be able to get him playing well but I don't think we will go for him.

We can't afford Ireland's wages. The next eight weeks will show what actual ambition the owner has or more to the point if he has the wealth that Natalie Jackson claimed in the video footage shown on the local beeb, or was it a complete fabrication? if so, then why? We have less infrastructure at the club than when the new owner arrived, its now almost a amatuer set up, we've not replaced Clark, Arthur, Pelling or Burt, who the hell is running our club? Weve brought in Billys pal Jim Price, a lawyer who has recently lost his licence to operate, I shudder at the thought that this person is acting as financial director, CEO, acting chairman and in charge of transfers. God help us if this is the case.

5.) 15 Jun 2013
When he's on £60,000 a week? I really don't think so.

6.) 15 Jun 2013
OOOOOOOHHH Worry :-{ because the previous regime got it so right didn't they?

I live in Kuwait but for 40 years I have followed Forest. I am from Nottingham and moved here 18 months ago. For those who doubt the wealth of our new owner and the ambitions he has for our club. He is the real deal. He has the wealth and the ambition to take our club back to the top. But may I remind you all that there is usually no direct link between success and money spent in this league. Just look at Fester and wolves. When a certain Mr Clough came here he didn't go and spend millions until after he had won the league, he looked at his players and recalled a certain Mr Woodcock from his loan spell, he promoted a certain Mr Anderson from the youth set up (These turned out to be reasonable players) He filled the side with the likes of Withe, Burns, lloyd and Robertson (all legends in the making but did any of them at the time really stand out as amazing footballers) OK once we got to the top flight he drafted in Shilton and eventually Francis but even then he went to the lower leagues to find Birtles (or rather Taylor did) Last season we were amazing when BD came back and with the same set of players (Plus one or two more we will get promotion) But reading these posts on a daily basis it almost seems we need the new owners to go out and buy a whole team of multi million pound Stellar signings WHY? WE have a good squad. WE have a good youth set up, WE have a great manager. WE have a wealthy owner. Football is a team sport and if BD can create a team that plays together and for each other THEN we will win promotion. WE probably need two or three new signings. But we probably don't need to spend much money with Loans and frees avaliable. This is a strange season with all the financial restriction coming into play, the main trick is to recruit players that are motivated to play for the team, there is going to be a lot of dissappointed footballers out there that feel rejected because they have been released by PL clubs just to cut costs. I am glad we have got Henderson. he is strong and holds up the front line well. I bet the owner of QPR is really happy with his investments over the past two years. how much have they spent. ? So to answer the above quote I DO NOT believe that the next few weeks will show the ambition of our Chairman, I think the next few weeks will show the intelligence and creativity of our manager. In Billy we should trust. He will deliver.

8.) 15 Jun 2013
I agree, the next few weeks will show us what fawaz is really about, I don't think there is any doubt that he has the money but its whether he can or will invest in us.

9.) 15 Jun 2013
Is that you Percy? {Ed034's Note - lol get of our site Percy

10.) 15 Jun 2013
I agree with the last poster. Who is actually running the club on a day-to-day basis? Who is negotiating transfer fees, contracts and speaking to clubs or agents? It can't be just Davies and Price surely. But thee isn't anybody else it seems who has any experience of doing those things. Baffling.

11.) 15 Jun 2013
The chairmans wealth only comes into play to fund the losses the club makes due to FPR, he is not allowed to pump money into the club I belive our losses are limited to 10 million this season, think it was 11 last, that's probably why Gunter was sold, this could also happen this season in an attempt to keep within the rules, imo. TEH

12.) 15 Jun 2013
Wasn't Ireland their player of the season in 11/12? He then got injured and lambert don't fancy him also he has to lower the wage bill if we can get him will be a "stellar signing" him Lansbury and pep? That would be class

13.) 15 Jun 2013
Well said "clark"

14.) 15 Jun 2013
I still can'y believe anybody questions the ambition of the owner, look at how we brought in 10+ players last summer with minimum fuss.

BD will give his targets and the chairman (or one of his delegates) will try their best to get them without paying inflated fee's.

Just because we don't know who is doing what doesn't mean that nobody is doing it.

Players sometimes need to be under the right managers. Ireland's talent is exceptional and maybe he needs a new manager. Look at magoo under billy. Fantastic player. Loads of people are knocking our links to 'out of favour' premiership players yet seem to forget we are in the championship. I'm guessing all would sign with the opportunity to get back in the top flight and be first choice not second. How many of our players left last season for no better than where they were. Chambers, shorey, mccleary.

It's about building a good squad and I will take any rejects who fancy having a good crack at the league next year. Every fan moaning about ex premier players be grateful not scornful. Can't wait to see who we get!
