When we go on about systems they can all work to be honest.
If you play 442 then you need a striker to get 20 and the other to get 10 then midfield chip in with a few and defenders get the odd one .
433 the goals get shared pretty evenly or you get one striker scoring the bulk and the other two getting their fair share.
You play 4231 and you need a 20 goal striker at least,you then need one midfielder to get to double figures,you then need your wingers to score a few,then your two centre backs to score ten between them and the full backs need a couple

4-2-3-1 produced 63 goals-31 against and a second placed finish with 16 players sharing the goals and the top scorer getting 8.

Far better spreading the risk around the park than relying on one main man especially given our injury luck with strikers!

By the way the manager of that successful team was the man you want out!

Even Wolves scoring 82 goals only had 2 players in double figures and the top scorer was a midfielder with 17!

But then the Foremoaner's are stuck in the past and fail to acknowledge the game has changed even if some of it is not the "Forest Way" which has not exactly got us very far in 20 years?

It should not be difficult to restrict goals against. Most on this site were against dariwika and Osborn but they have been replaced largely. The centre backs have changed as everyone considered Worrall a liability. So Steele needs to replace Pants or they need to all up their game. Grabban is a proven goal scorer in the premier league. Given the correct service he will score in the teens. This side has all the correct elements in place and especially a manager who needs our support

We know the stats are facts and you love telling us his past record,but always forget to mention his disastrous time in the prem with them.
Your telling us not to live in the past and all you do is go on about karankas past.
It's what he's doing now that matters and I hope he changes and is a success,but I don't think he can change.
He's made some poor decisions in signings and team selection since the day he arrived,January he bought in Watson as his captain and now he'll probably be cast aside and that won't go down well in the dressing room.
Team spirit gets you a long way and continually chopping and changing does nothing to get any confidence flowing.
Your faith in him is based purely on one achievement,I don't have that faith having watched us play 29 games under him,the run of not scoring was painfull and the fact he has the reputation for being a great defence coach makes things worst as we concede most games.
So all in all he's got to improve drastically to win me over

Here's another problem for me redinexile about karanka.
He's been talking about Dawson.
He says he was unlucky against Bristol he played well but had to come off near the end,I then felt he wouldn't be able to play another game a few days later,so he lost his place and we played really well,so in the following game he lost his place as well,then I was considering playing him after the mistakes against Wigan and Birmingham,but he then got injured,he's one to consider against Swansea now he's fit.
No wonder the players get confused.

I think the one thing we didn't get was a big commanding centre back. Dawson is ok but not big. Hef looks ok but not that big. Fox is ok but not big. We concede too many headers. Flint is the man we needed. HUGE.

The problem lies in many of the above answers. AK has only had 1 job in England before Forest. We talk about him like he's done this many times before but he's only had 1 job. Ok that was a success but so was Nigel Adkins but we wouldn't want the likes of him near our club. AK is still inexperienced at this management game and it's showing at the moment in my opinion By the way it was good to relive that Colin Barratt goal on Facebook last night. A memorable night and although 40 years ago it still feels like it was yesterday
