Another twist in the Marinakis affair. Presumably nothing to do with him, but does someone seem to have it in for him? He seems such a generous philanthropist, it seems hard to believe all of these charges that appear.

Probably par for the course among his colleague businessmen, always trying to get one over on each other.

No smoke without fire.
Obviously done something to upset the establishment in Greece.
It's either trying to get something on him, anything or he's a wrong un
Up to the Greek courts to decide.
This one's the most serious as all assets are seized in drug trafficking.
There has to be something in his business dealings that don't go down well ?
Let's hope his denial of wrong doing is correct and itd all fabrication, but word of caution for me is?
When your an olympiakos fan playing champions league football, why buy a champioship club that doesn't own it's own ground and has no assets?
Why did it take so long for him to pass the fit and proper owners?
I've not seen a very rich man being accused of so much in such a short time?
Just saying and let's hope he's a good in.

Owning a boat is like owning an investment property. You never quite know what your hirers are up to on your premises?

When I've spoken to football fans in Greece, their attitude is that when Marinkas took over Olympiacos, they were nowhere, all of a sudden they were the top Greek club.
Although there has been no evidence they think he has bribed and used his money in an underhand way to get what he wants.
No evidence, but sour grapes from supporters of other clubs in Greece.

{Ed002's Note - Marinakis is simply a businessman, like Robert Maxwell. People like them never do wrong, it is simply business.}

Dazza, it seems a bit of an odd view that your greek acquaintances have, given that Olympiacos have won 19 of the last 21 Greek league titles (not to mention the 25 in 60 years before that). With Evangalos having only been in charge for the last 7 of those.

Football is politics in Greece so there will always be people trying to undermine a top politician who owns a football club!

The Chairman's statement is fair and reasoned so I would sooner have a successful global businessman who loves his sport than previous owners who were never really in it to win it?
