Karanka has said we will finish the window with a stronger squad than we have now. That was after the game yesterday so he must have soms agreements in place!

All we need to do to have a stronger squad at the end of the window is sell Mills?

Finishing the window stronger could just mean the players he has will improve in their right positions, not necessarily any more additions to the squad. Unless of course McKay or someone else leaves. Personally I think we have a good talented squad who can keep us up, even though there still will be ups and downs in terms of results. Let's work with what we've got and not expect some sort of single saviour to come in and put everything right all of a sudden.

He may also mean that they will be mentally stronger following this and the Arsenal results and their new found team ethic.
That or we have some decent players coming in. maybe he is close to someone arriving.
Clayton please!!

I think he will add two this window. One central defender and one strong chsracter in midfield. We have no cover for worral or bridcutt. Personally manciennd is no captain as he never ever speaks on the pitch so maybe expect a vociferous addition.

Bsred, I think Karanka would like a general on the pitch. A strong character to lift the players if we are flagging, to enforce AK's directions. Clough had McGovern, AK trusts a player at Boro, I hope he gets his man.

Billy (like him or hate him) sought out & got McKenna. We've had no-one since other than CC but always injured.

Mancienne might not be a captain but we are a much better team when he’s in the back 4.

Never saw McGovern give the team a lift ,like Mance just got on with his job and led by example.
Others in a that side were much much more vocal than McGovern ,you don,t have to bawl and shout to be skipper you need the others respect.

Captains work in different ways, a crunching tackle to set the tone of a game, encouraging defensive shape, scoring a whopper. You could be the best player but a rubbish captain, I like a talker who praises, chastises, rollocks and encourages, a conductor on the pitch. We don't have that but I believe we would be that stronger side, if we could sign such a player.

Carlo mancienne struggles with concentration. His communication with colleagues is ziltch. He is not a bad player but then he is not a great player. Captain material nope.

You can have great players in any league and at any standard, the problem is keeping hold of them and trying to make sure the clubs get something out of them ie . Promotion or cash in the bank.

Have said for a while that it is ridiculous that the only player I see every game shouting and talking to everyone all the time is young Joe Worrall!
None of our players who have worn the armband lately are overly vocal, Manchienne, Lichij or Mills. No matter what position a leader is something we need.
