Read it here - We want Paul Heckinbottom in charge for the Arsenal game. All over the media.

Hope this is true but I'd have thought the owners would want someone with more influence in the foreign market EG. Karanka and Garcia.

Barnsley are no better off than us. Sure he is rated there and I don't know his budget. They have sold a few in the last year too I spose. Maybe he would be ok. Kind of talking myself into it.

I am sure we talked about a young manger at an average club when Pearce or Freedman was appointed. Never happened as board didn’t think was big enough name and sections of fans moaned about ‘who are they’ or ‘what have they done’ but Eddie Howe and Sean Dyche done ok.
I would take a risk on Heckingbottom, decent young manager who has done well at Barnsley, plays attacking football and works well on budget, works well with youth and picks up some bargains in transfer window and still growing. For me would be a good choice and in reality more exciting than most other names though I would be fine with any of top three that bookies are backing at the moment (Karanka, Garcia and Heckingbottom)

Better than Karanka. Karanka's football will bore the sh*t out of us! At least Heckie likes to play proper football.

Apparently he refused to rule himself out of the role today.

Boring and successful or tippy tappy with no success?

Personally i wouldn’t want Paul Heckingbottom. He has no experience is a club who has a real ambition to get promotion and no experience with a club where there is pressure on every game to win by the fans. O’Neil or karanka would be best

O'Neil for me. But as he even been approached

Bit worried about Heckingbottom's ability and reputation. He got Barnsley out of League 1 via play offs after finishing 6th and taking over from Lee Johnson in the Feb and only took charge for 15 games until the play offs.

Yes he has done well on a budget but then Barnsley have a history of managers who get short term success and move on usually to disappear out of sight into the lower leagues.

He has no backroom staff who are going to attract better players, so unless we are going for a long term D of F to co-ordinate transfers and academy then we will struggle unless this guy is a genius?

Think I'd rule genius out.
