Clough has been linked with a loan move to Bolton, is that a wise move, i can understand Clough wanting it as he is not getting enough games, but it would strengthen another Championship club.

Clough being kept out of the side by Dowell and won,t improve by not playing ,really needs a run in the side to see how good he is but that won,t happen with Dowell here begining to look like another Patterson situation and could end with someone getting him on the cheap.

This is a tough decision but Clough needs games to loosen the rust and keep him sharp.
It’s a catch 22 situation unfortunately.
It’s like robbing Peter to pay Paul.

I know Dowell is good but its hard to see our own players suffering while we develop someone elses youngster. If there was a chance of buying him fine but I can't see it. You end up with him leaving and our player wanting to leave.loans are ok to bolster positions your short in.

Could always loan him to Notts that way he gets a game and won't give a team in our league a decent player

Why not just play Dowell and Clough?

you have to feel for clough i thought he was a great buy when we got him but to be fair he has not lived up to my expectations but he will have his chance again no way will dowell stay at forest but he's playing well so you can't really drop him,but i would use clough more than MW has this season

Thing is with Dowell he's very inconsistent, hat trick one game ,totally ineffective the next, last few games he's played he's been poor, but so has osborn.
Against Bolton it was a toss up which one to take off or even both?.
He's got talent no denying, but he's young and runs got and cold.
Osborn has been given the midfield role he craved for,but despite his running around has failed to show why he should play there.
I'd like to see clough come good and to be fair he started the season first choice no 10 but didn't grasp it,My concern is he's lightweight as Osborn McKay Vaughan and Bridcutt are,got to have some presence in midfield for me,players like clough and McKay need a midfielder too do the dirty work for them.
At Bolton he was surrounded by enforcers allowing him to play his game.
We need a hard tackling big presence in midfield to let the attacking midfielders to flourish.

Clough needs game time to sharpen up. A short term loan with a call back option would be if it club and player.
If he enables Bolton to beat the teams we are trying to climb above in the league then it's a total win win situation.

So having loans players in means loaning your own expensive players out !
Sounds like a merry go round that benifits two other clubs but unless the one you,ve got is epceptional of no benifit to you and possibly cost you money .
In the championship if you pay out big money I think unless the player you have bought is really poor they should get a good run in your side or the money,s been wasted.

Think your right on that Carlo, not a fan of any loan deals myself, unless in extreme circumstances, where your struggling in an area with injuries.
Like to see clough given a run, first few games he looked the part and scored goals.
It's that same old problem though,he was signed by fawaz and maybe warbo don't rate him, this is a reason to stay with warbo let him sort out who he wants to keep and who he wants to bring in.
I do think we're overloaded with midfielders who mostly have the same build, small and easily bullied out of games.
For me if we can get our money back and say a few million for Osborn, then get a couple of stronger all round midfielders I'd be happy with that.
We seem to have had a pattern over the last five years of having these diminutive midfielders time for a change.

Quigly,Newton,Barnwell,Lyall,McGovern,Gemmill,Hodge,Reid, McKenna and many more ,not one over5'8 "it,s not height but talent and commitment that matters .

Your talking way different quality from the players we have now.
Not a single midfielder we have now would have got into any of the sides any of those players played in.
I don't question the commitment of our midfield,it's just a fact they can't tackle and other than McKay and Dowell don't score either.

Carlo
We never played 3 or 4 lightweights in the same team. 5 of the ones you mention knew how and when to put their foot in. The ones we have cannot tackle to save their lives!

14.) 15 Dec 2017
15 Dec 2017 23:50:38
We play 4 defenders and 2 defensive midfielders and still concede way too many goals. Something not right somewhere.

16 Dec 2017 13:18:14
Would call any of our midfielders defensive,Bridcutt tries and is the nearest we've got to one, boukalkis?maybe, but that's it and that's not saying much.

16.) 16 Dec 2017
16 Dec 2017 16:32:39
Why play them then?

Got know one else I've been saying for the last five years we lack a defensive midfielder,we are soft all over the park need to bring in some nasty types to do the dirty work.
It was a mistake giving manciene Vaughan and Cohen new contracts, should have dispensed with them as all we've done is struggle with them,They were hardly going improve.
